people can ruin everything. Some churches just like businesses~ have way to many people earning big bucks on top of the ladder, while the lil' guy does all the work providing.
In the case of Jesus, he was up against greedy people that were used to having their own way and being celebrated as number one. Jesus being followed by the poor then by the other rich people ticked off the emperor. He needed to get rid of his competition.

I'm not sure about your "ladder" analogy, but yes, I think Jesus WAS pretty closed-minded and quite opinionated! He was a political zealot, who wanted equity for the poor and sick (who'd been forbidden to enter the Temple). That's mainly why he made so many enemies of the wealthy Romans and their Hebrew minions.
He wasn't a military threat (like Muhammed), which is why the Jews didn't see him as the Messiah. Also, a recent program on the History Channel gave credible evidence that Jesus was NOT of the House of David (whence the Messiah was supposed to hail), but from a different Bethlehem.
If Jesus were around today, he'd probably be a Communist, who marched in protests and annoyed the crap out of the Bushocracy and rich pigs in general! I also DON'T think he'd like what's become of "his" religion...the scandals, corruption and excess!

I think Jesus was setting the example for how we are to reach out to people of all walks of life. It's not the Christians who need to be saved but the sinners. Jesus went to the adulterous woman at the well (who was a Samaritan by they way) and struck up a conversation with her. He revealed her sins to her, forgave her then told her to go and sin no more. In those days Jews would not be seen speaking to a Samaritan let alone one of such ill repute. If that's the kind of person Jesus Himself found worthy to save, we are to do likewise.
Speaking for my own church we don't have so many people at the top of the social ladder. We have all races, all cultures, many various languages and all walks of life. No one is rejected or cast out because of his or her "status" in life.

Jesus was a Rebel man. He bucked the system and won...well kind of...I mean they did nail him to a Cross an all ( the equivalent of lethal injection now a days) But the bottom line is he didn't take **** from the MAN...You shouldn't either.

So are you saying that we have to become hobos, outcasts, or lepers in order to follow Jesus? And for your info, there are many poor Christians out there who still believe because it is the truth.
