We want to stay with her current OBGYN but it has been a while since our daughter had insurance, almost a year.

If she didn't have insurance when she became pregnant then unfortunately she will not be able to get insurance for the pregnancy. Some insurance companies will give her insurance but it will exclude all medical expenses that have to do with the pregnancy. You may want to talk to her doctor about her options to save money through this pregnancy.

Sorry.

If the place her husband works has less than 50 employees, pregnancy cannot be considered a pre existing conditions per HIPAA Federal Law. It does not matter if she is already pregnant or not, it has to be covered by the health insurance company. If they give you grief about this, contact the state insurance commissioner's office and file a complaint against the insurance company.

There are a number of websites that offer help with this. Just google "Pregancy no insurance" and you will find them. Here's one:

Also, your local Planned Parenthood can often help with this sort of thing.

Good luck with all of this. I hope it will be a healthy, happy baby! I know it will have loving grandparents.

IF she hasn't been diagnosed as pregnant from a doctor yet, then it's not pre-existing.

Otherwise, looks like you're out of pocket for it. You might see if WIC or your state CHIP program can help you - they will most of the time, because the prenatal care is for the baby too, ya know?

First she should talk to her doctor and to the hospital. They have funds for such things. You might also want to check out the links below. There is a lot of assistance out there. Good luck and congratulations!
