is because that believing in god bring THEM comfort , God is a good thing because it benefits them, God is beneficial to humans and humans love god because he benefits them, it is like to love a person because of money, if there is no money, there will be no love either now, I do not know if the love that we have for god should still be called a true love?

My opinion only, But it would seem to me that they believe out of fear of going to hell as much as out of hope of going to heaven.

Human's love is always conditional and untrue to anybody. That's why human can not find any way to Heaven by their good-doings. Jesus said " all your righteousness are the dirty rags before Him".

If people love themselves that purely, I don't think we'd see the self-abuse, self-hatred, and guilt people suffer from so often.
