There are several factors causing the little red bumps. Follow these steps and the bumps should reduce.

Always use a razor that is not dull or rusted or caked with dead skin and soap scum. A disposible razor is good for about 5 to 6 shaves. A razor like the men's Mach 3 can last longer if the blades are cleaned after every use.

Always exfoliate the area before shaving.

Always use a shaving gel like Skintimate for Sensitive Skin. (it is a sensitive area)

Shave in a downward direction and not "up". Go with the hair growth and not against it. And rinse the razor after each pass.

When you get out of the shower use an aloe vera gel (read the label and make sure the first ingredient is Aloe Vera) or witch hazel (found in the same aisle as rubbing alcohol and peroxide).

I've been following these rules for a long time and I never get bumps.

I've stopped using a razor and instead use a hair trimmer. I can cut the hair very short and I don't have a problem with bumps which are actually the beginning of ingrown hairs. The big problem with razors is the hair is being cut at an angle which gives it a beveled edge and a point, making it easier to start growing under the skin.....hello hair bumps. Electric razors and trimmers tend to cut the hair straight across making it difficult to get hair bumps. If you have really curly hair, you may be better off with trimmers. I have also used a chemical hair remover (depilatory) but you have to be REALLY careful not to get the stuff on the delicate areas. You can use petroleum jelly to coat the sensitive areas and a SYNTHETIC paintbrush to apply the remover. Use of a mirror will help with even application. Make sure you do a patch test to make sure you're not sensitive to the remover. Also you're going to need to be stationary for a while until time to clean up. In my experience, I still had some stubble after using the depilatory.

Yeah those bumps are normal...but to help not get so many or any..make sure you always use a razor with at least 3 blades!! And use lots of shaving cream! I actually think that the razor Intuition does a pretty good job (u know the one with the blade and solid that looks like soap combined). And for those bumps use this stuff called Bikini Zone..you can get it at lots of stores.

All I can stress is how bad shaving is it only makes the hair thicker and more coarse, If I had to go without wax maybe even a removal cream would be better than shaving. Say NO to shaving especially down there...oh and ingrowns from shaving don't get me started.......

Some people are more prone than others to red bumbs.
The cream or gel hair removers would work best with little irritation. Drug stores carry them or Walmart etc.
If your parents were to question, you could tell them you want to get the hair to grow in lighter before next swim suit season so things will be under control down there.

First off, use lots of shaving cream and shave downward first all over until you have shaved it as short as it will go in that direction. Then use more shaving cream and then shave upward very slowly and carefully always starting from the top corners and working your way to the middle. It took me two years to figure that out
It works
