Its a mechanical device basically used for turning ,tapering of metal,wooden jobs.It can also be used for threading ,offset turning ,boring and drilling of jobs.

Lathe machins has many use in metal cutting industry. depending on the cutting tool you attached to the lathe, you can make various shapes. A simaple example -- the cylinder head in your engine two wheeler. Sometime a problem occurs like 'ring Down' resulting in excessive smokes. The head needs to be bored to next size. this is done in a lathe.
