Have you tried Mr. Clean Magic Eraser? You can then use it later for other things, and they last quite a bit.

You can get a product called "Goof Off" I have never used it after the marks have been painted over but this stuff is good for graffiti. I have used it to remove magic marker (the laundry permanent) spray paint, and crayons yes we have a young Picasso in training. It runs about $5 -$8 per can and it last a long time. Good luck

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is your best bet.

When my son was two years old, in 1983, he used crayons to express his artistic abilities on the side of an 100 year old antique armoire that had been in my family for four generations.

I tried everything to get those crayon marks off the wood.

When the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser came out in 2003, I decided to go ahead and give it a try on this 20 year old problem. Lo and behold, it worked - without marring the finish of the furniture!!

More recently, I've used Magic Erasers on a whiteboard to remove tidbits written with an otherwise indelible Sharpie. If it will get out Sharpie stains, it will get out anything!

Buy a box of the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Wet the eraser and gently rub the area. You not believe how well these work. I work as a nanny, and I have removed all kinds of stuff off the walls with these.
