You are not the confused one!I am sure they think or hope that they can somehow PROVE that HE doesen't exist so they don't have to acknowledge that "measure of faith" as the BIBLE puts it, that GOD has placed in each of us. Besides, misery loves company. You know what you believe so share it with a lost and dying world. There were ppl just like these ppl at the foot of the Cross but CHRIST went ahead and died for them too. This is a mission field.

dove i think your right, i dont believe in god, but i would never go to a believer and try to discourage them from their beliefs. Athiests are human so of course they can come on here in a spiritual sense. Every human alive has a degree of spirituality wether they trust what they are told or go out there and find their own beliefs is a different story. I personally believe the greatest gift a person can give to others is to love themselves. It makes life much easier when you are comfortable with yourself

Given the standard of questions and answers from you I am hardly surprised that you are so easily confused. Atheists by definition have an interest in religion. To discourage people from believing in God would involve things like having our own TV channels and millionaire preachers, going round knocking on doors and handing out tracts, putting pressure on politicians to enforce our religious practices upon people who don't believe in the same way as us, and generally trying to get in people's faces. You have come onto a public forum, probably from having spent too long in a small bible-bashing community, and the concept of people disagreeing with you is alien to you. Theists seem to think this place is about expressing their deeply uninformed opinions about evolution or, in your case, to whine that Christians are a poor little persecuted minority (heedless of the fact that they have major interests in broadcasting, business and, er, the presidency). It isn't. You've stepped into the real world. Not everyone thinks like you. If you don't like it, go back to church.

I am not atheist but I do not profess and do not believe in any organized religions either. If atheists want to share their point of view and you are so sure about God,why does it bother you? they do not bother me at all .It becomes distasteful when one or both parties use insults to try to convince the other . Except for that anyone should be able to raise their own opionion, you can learn a lot from everyone, does not matter what they believe in.Open our mind and heart.

This is a question that has been asked many times, and i don't think anyone has an answer, I believe they either just come here to wind others up, or they are really seeking the truth, because they don't know, they can't prove that God does not exist, they only believe it, but can't prove it, and that upsets some of them because for most of us that do believe don't have to try and prove anything to anyone, but they do, sad really, if they don't believe fine, but why try and wind up those who do, I suppose those that do that are just sad, bored loney people with nothing better to do.

Hei Dove why must you get confused? Even Abraham were labelled as an ATHEISTS by his father and the villages as Abraham refused to accept the GOD of his father and the God of his people. The Question is ....Who you take as your GOD? So don't blame any person who don't accept and recognise your God and who knows God is guiding them as what God had guide and lead Abraham to find a real GOD. So better check your self whether you really have a real God as your God.

I guess it's because they feel the need to defend themselves.
Do you eat meat? When a vegetarian tells you why they don't eat meat, what do you tell them?
Because humans are the only animal that eat flesh from an animal after it has died.
In the animal kingdom, when animals are forced to eat carcases because of starvation, they are given a name - one which does not have the best connotations - scavenger.
So, while I myself believe in G-d, (yes, I felt the need to say that), it is an atheist's right to comment in this section as well. If anything, they're strengthening your faith anyway - you posted this question didn't you. :)

You don't have to be a proponent of religion, you can be an oponent to be here. Religious people do ask questions here and so do those who don't believe in it. The category is not, "Believers in Religion and Spiritually". You'll find that most catagories attract prople on both sides of a particular issue. To answer your question as to why they try to discourage peoples belief, please consider the religious people who want to encourage someone in believing in what they do. I have people waving Bibles knocking on my door frequently.

This is only a web page. when you encounter those Atheists in your real life, will you be uneasy like this too? You believe in God and you have your strong reasons, you don't have to care about their discouraging words. Actually, it is good for you to know their views of life, then you can compare with yours. one view is not enough in everywhere, in religion, or marriage or family or church or any organisation.

You've got some nerve!Do you want this to be a Christians only site?Every-one has the right to express their beliefs,&, surprise, surprise,Atheists can be spiritual too.You are Christian but you do not have the Christian spirit, you are intolerant of people who do not share your beliefs. If you spent more time in the real world,& less time trying to lick god's a*s,you might actually become a better human being.

Honestly it is kind of fun to debate and argue. Christians do it to everyone else, so why can't everyone else do it back?
It is also kind of frustrating for a lot of non-religious people. A lot of them, like me, were brought up to fear and respect God, and we rebelled. Common sense is just overwelming for some and religions lack a certain common sense. It is hard to sit back and watch people we love or are close to us believing in something that limits them from experiencing life. Yeah I know, life is lived fullest with God in it, that is your argument. The thing is though that Christianity is really being attacked, not the belief in God. You just have to look deeper and see what is going, read between the lines, like we do. Most of us wouldn't care at all that Christians believe what they believe, if they weren't hell bent on making everyone like themselves, especially since they don't even know who they are as a whole group. There are way too many versions of Christianity, just pick one and agree.
So to sum up, we aren't actually picking on what you believe, we are picking on your religion. Just as you pick on the way we think. The opposites attract, what can I say? Christians force their beliefs on everyone else, so everyone else forces their beliefs back.
