The little kid is probably cutting teeth.
The mouth produces extra saliva during this time to help soothe and cleanse the gums.
Don't worry, it is normal and wil stop as soon as she learns to swallow.
But at about 13 she will start drooling all over again at the sight of a handsome boy.
EEgads I bet you can't wait..........

She must be getting some teeth of some sort.
My daughter got to about a week before her first birthday without one single tooth. I asked the doctor about her teeth, and he said they don't worry until the baby is 15 months old. Somewhere between the first birthday and a few months later all the teeth came in.
Your little girl is either getting some "left over" teeth or else she's going to spring her two-year molars early.
Another possiblity could be that she's got a chronically stuffy and is leaving her mouth open to breathe more than usual.
I'm going to go way out on a limb and say that you could have another eight months of this at the most. More likely, another two months.

My 3 turning 4 year old still sometimes has a drooling fest, but mostly when she is conjested. Her 2 year old sisters have a drooling fest everytime there teeth move. Personally I think drooling isn't that bad cos my daughters constantly have there hands down there pants or nappy and if there hands aren't there they are up there nose. Though the three year old is getting better now that i don't let it bother me.

My nephew had this same problem, and it WAS annoying, because it felt like you had to constanly be changing his shirts.
His mom asked the pediatrician though, and what Dr said is that yes, they produce extra saliva while they are teething, but also some children have a condition (its not a big deal, and they DO grow out of it) where they produce extra saliva, for whatever reason. And these are the kids that you see constantly drooling all over themselves.
There's not really anything to do about it but wait it out..... And make sure that you are giving the baby plenty of water and juices, which I'm sure you are.... But if it really concerns you you can talk to your pediatrician about it.

My niece drooled until she was 2 years old, she just didn't care that she had a wet shirt and didn't seem to think about swallowing, but she grew out of it (she's 4 now). Try the blogs at babycenter.com they have alot of helpful advice too.
in fact here's an excerpt from one...
"Actually I was just looking at a teething chart and the *second* set of molers is *supposed* to come in at 20 months (bottom) and 24 months (top). The *first* sets were *supposed* to come in at 12 months (bottom) and 14 months (top)...
So it is VERY likely that the kiddos are teething AGAIN!!!"

I think it's halarious that you added that she's not "handicapped or special-needs.".. lol.. Did you think that people would assume she is because she still drools?
