It will be summer time & we dont really think its a great idea to fill the kids up with sugay snacks (there will be about 40 of them so...) & there is two children attending who are allergic to nuts. We are thinking fruit & jelly but how to make it appealing to kids who are between the ages of 5 to 8?
Any healthy ideas is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance for your answers :o)

Traffic light jelly
red jelly - less half cup water
orange jelly - less half cup water
green jelly - less half cup water

The half cup less of water helps in making a firmer setting jelly, and ease of cutting.
Make red jelly pour into large tin and set, then make up orange jelly cool completely, before gently pouring over the set red jelly, set orange jelly, make up the green jelly again cool completely before gently pouring over the orange jelly, allow to set over night before cut into traffic light cubes.

Fruit platter
3 green apples
3 red apples
2 pears
4 peaches
6 plums
6 kiwi fruit (peeled)
2 punnets of strawberries
3-4 bananas
1 carambola fruit (star fruit)
black berries
blue berrie
raspberries

The stone fruit needs to be ripe but firm, for ease of handling and cutting. You can add the other berries if in season and not to dare to buy.
Slice apples, pears, peaches, kiwi fruit and plums into wedges pieces, cutting out seeds and stones. Wash strawberries, and cut in half, arrange on a very large platter, add the bananas and carambola fruit just before serving, so they wont go brown, cut star fruit cross ways so it looks like stars.

Fairy bread
bread buttered and sprinkle with hundreds and thousands, your children could help with this.

Mini hot dogs, with a slice of bread trimmed wrapped around the hot dog, and a tooth pick pushed trough to hold the bread around the hot dog.

Other foods you could try is;
Mini tacos
Nachos
Rocky road
Coconut ice
Fruit kebabs
Pop corn
Chocolate crackles

Hope this give you a few ideas, and good luck!

Ummmm, 40 kids is way to many in my opinion, but I've got some suggestions.

1) Put a bowl or bowls of low fat yogurt out. Then cut up some peach, apple, pineapple, strawberry, honeydew, and banana slices. Dip the fruit in the yogurt and enjoy!

2) Make sandwiches with wheat bread. Add some turkey, or ham in the sandwiches along with the salad greens, and add a pinch of mayo to act as dressing.

3) Get some canned salmon out and mash it up. then slice some low fat cheese. Put them on crackers, and have a bowl of grapes or strawberries at hand to make for a healthy desert.

4) Always have some orange, grape, or apple juice at hand. 100% juice only.

Good luck! God bless!

Everything that's 'mini' will attract them, mini pizzas, Mini hot dogs, with small buns and cocktail sausages, you can mix canned fruits in jelly of different colours like triffles, also try pancakes with ham or mushroom fillings, try to have a table as colourful as possible, all sorts of fruit juices with ice would change from fizzy drinks.

veggie and dips. Kids actually like it, especially carrot sticks and celery. Cut up fruit and yogurt dip or yogurt cups. Crackers and cheese. Sugar-free Jell-o. Pretzels.

in girl scouts we made "ants on a log" which is celery sticks with either peanut butter or fat free cream cheese in the middle and raisins or sunflower seeds sprinkled on top =) I know that you said the kid was allergic to nuts... maybe he's not allergic to sunflower seeds?

Unbuttered popcorn is pretty healthy because it has fiber in it. Rice cakes would be good, too, or maybe celery with peanut butter or cream cheese on top.
