We took our kitty to the vet and they did a fecal test on her and it came back saying that she has roundworms. While at the vet they said that her swollen belly could because of worms or that she was pregnant. I think that she may be pregnant because her belly expanded pretty rapidly since we took her in and the doc agreed. The vet wants us to come by and pick up some wormer, but I don't know whether we should worm her or not b/c of the possible pregnancy. I don't know if it would be possible to speak to an actual doctor without making another appt b/c the girl that works behind the counter seems to not care about people's (animal's) problems. It does no good to complain about this girl b/c this is a military vet clinic. What should I do?

Yes! Go and worm that cat!
The reasoning is that a certain type of roundworm,Toxocara cati, can be passed from queen to kits. Just make sure that when the kits are born they are treated, too. (Wait until about two weeks after birth.)

I am a licensed vet. Worming a cat while it may or may not be pregnant is totally safe to the mother and the possible kittens forming inside. In fact, I've seen many cases of it and there were never any unfortunate outcomes. If you feel you need to call a vet in your area, do so, but make sure you speak to the vet yourself...A lot of times the receptionists that answer the phone are there to do just that and don't know much about the medical part of the job.

Im not an expert, but my guess is, if they have a test for human pregnancy, they have one for felines.

Use a search engine and search :VetMd free answerboard. You could also call the ASPCA and ask for assistance.

I would hesitate to worm a cat that looked pregnant.

I would not trust a vet who couldn't tell the difference.

Good luck to you and Cat.

i don't believe of you may malicious software her the finest ingredient is to go away the worming for now, even as she has the kittens you may get some worming stuff for her and the kittens. i imagine you should attend some weeks to malicious software the kittens yet not with pills you may get cream or a syrup wormer. yet in case you do malicious software her now you may want to damage the kittens you purely were given about 7 weeks left that is better to be probability-free then sorry. solid success with the babbies x

Well, with dogs, you do not worm after the third week of pregnancy.
I would not worm her until she has the kittens. You would still have to worm them also, so why not do them all together.
You can worm the mom and kittens at 2,4,6,and 8 weeks.
