what kind of mouthguard would you recommend if you are playing basketball?

The best ones are made in a Dental Laboratory. But in most states, you need to have the dentist take impressions of you teeth and then send them in to the lab. It is not cheap, but if you break your teeth or jaw due to improper fit of the over the counter type, it will cost you a lot more in dental bills. Have a dentist do it for you. You will not be sorry.

Go to your dentist, orthodontist or dental hygeinist as they will do impressions on ur teeth and get u fitted for a mouthguard. An added benifit of having impressions is if u loose ur mouthguard or need a plate you don't need to get another impression done again cos you've already got one.

if you don't want the expense of doing a custom mouthguard, there is one you can buy that is quite good. its called shock doctor
you shoud be able to get it at a sporting supply store. my son plays football and thats what i buy for him, it can be custom fitted for your mouth. they cost about 10 dollars. it seems just as good to me as anything that i could have made for him in our lab. plus they have a 10,000 dollar insurance with it.

You can use any kind of sportsguard for playing sports. It doesn't matter whether they're "boil and bite" or custom ones you get from the dentist as long as you're wearing one!!!

THE TYPE OF MOUTH GUARD MUST BE THE KIND THAT WILL PROTECT YOUR TEETH IN THE EVENT THAT AN ELBOW FINDS IT'S WAY TO YOUR MOUTH FROM ANOTHER PLAYER.

IT ONLY TAKES 1 TIME TO BE A VICTIM OF AN UNINTENTIONAL ACCIDENT. THERE IS A REASON FOR MOUTH GUARDS TO BE REQUIRED IN BOXING FOR EXAMPLE. THOUGH MOUTH GUARDS ARE NOT REQUIRED IN BASKETBALL IT WOULD BE PRUDENT TO WEAR ONE.
