Throughtout history cupid has being playing with hearts, Crushes,
heartaches, true love, marriage, family and home , etc. There is no proper laid out rules for having a boyfriend.girlfriend, and at what age. For the moment I think you should just follow what all young people do: get friends and, make more friends, join in the fun and frolic, form associations, go for dances, parties, and outing of sorts, study together, with your parents permission, of course. Don't get ino any untoward mischief or trouble that will in turn trouble your parents i.e., I mean from both sides, yours and your friends, and before long you will know if you have a boyfriend or a girlfriend or not!.

i think you should be able to have a boyfriend as soon as you and someone else like another, however i don't think that anyone can really have a serious boyfriend/girlfriend until they are about 15 and that's only if they are very mature, and usually boys at that age aren't, and that is why girls tend to date older guys because they mature faster but to answer your dads question, i would say how ever old you are, if you feel like you want to try to have a boyfriend/girlfriend(im not sure if your a male or female but im guessing female), then go ahead and try it, your dad is probably just trying to make sure you don't get hurt, but sometimes getting hurt is what helps you to be stronger in the relationships to come which is why i see no harm in letting people experiment with dating at a younger age! hope that helps...good luck convincing him, that can be hard just remember hes trying to help you!

Well My daughter is almost 13, I told her she is too young for dating. I think 15 is good. I was chasing boys at age 13 and 14, by the time I was 15, I was ready to date. Its all about your maturity. Dating is good, as long as it doesn't take you too far. Once you go all the way, you can't go back to just holding hands. It's not the same. But dating can be a wonderful experience. I wish you luck!! I think you will know when your ready...

As a dad, I would say a hundred but as a person, I would say that about 15 is about right. But why not try having more than just one friend? People who you tell honestly that you talk to other people and are not just talking to one person.

There will be plenty of time for that. 30- 50 years with the same person. Everyday. Nobody else. The same person. Why not just have fun now and date. As long as your honest and not messing around with fools, you will have the best time and have a choice of who you might want to date exclusively one day.

Hi Miss, I would say, 16 is a safe age to start. You have one foot in your parents' house and one foot out for freedom. You can decide at 18 what you want to do.But right now tell your dad the age is 16. You didn't say, how old you are!! A Friend.

You should be at least 16 years old. At this age a girl can decide what is wrong and what is good. She will have to see the guy's nature and will then decide to step forward. You must know that girls often fall pray to sexual harrassement at the hands of guys. I therefore, reckon that age 16 years is the best age for relationship.

Well 16 has always been the appropriate age, however mos kids start the boyfriend girlfriend drama @ 13.. It depends on the individual and the understanding of the limits they have as boyfriend and girlfriends.. You know Mall dates, movies, skating , house parties(supervised), amusement parks that sort of thing.. Nothing serious until High School....

Parents ask the dumbest questions.

What they should be asking is "Do you and your friend use condoms when you share privileges?" (fwp = "friends with privileges" usually starts around 12 to 13 for girls and 13 to 14 for boys and includes innocent and experimental same-sex fun)

Instead of being frustrated at Dad's question, answer him.

Tell him you think you are old enough because you understand boys around your age do not know how to love and are only interested in experimenting with sex because to them it feels good. But you are not interested in having sex with them but still have a strong feeling that you need to have a close relationship with boys your age that doesn't involve having sex. Actually, most boys your age (assuming you are 12 to 17) are fine with having a gf who wants to be with them but doesn't want to have sex until after graduating from high school. Its a good answer to both your Dad and to the boys who are pressuring you to put your face in their lap while sitting in the back seat of their car with their jeans and boxers pushed down to their ankles.
