My internet explorer is having link problems on the IE desktop icon.
After my dad deleted a bunch of files he thought weren't needed, the icon on our desktop for IE change from the blue E to an Earth Icon, and whenever we click on it, it takes us to the internet properties window. The only way to access the internet now is through a yahoo link on the desktop. How can I fix this?

You don't say which OS you are using. if you are using XP put the disk in the CD drive. Then click on Startmenu>run. When that comes up you type in it: sfc /scan now. You will see a box with a grey progress bar. It is possible your Dad has deleted a system file. When that is finished you know that your system files are OK.
If IE still does not work go to the Microsoft website and search for: repair IE (version).
You can also Google 'repair IE'. But check your system files first.

My execution file for IE is in:

c:\program files\internet explorer\explore.exe

Open My Computer
double-click on C:
double-cl on Program Files
double-cl on Internet Explorer
you will see the IE icon
right-click on it and select "create shortcut"
If it doesn't go to the desktop, drag it there

Delete that Icon, Right Click on your Desktop and choose "Desktop", "Customize Desktop" and choose to display IE and whatever else you want.
