Besides, if you're a little island, you're dependant on other countries to ship you food and clothes and stuff like that. Piss people off, they may do a little trade embargo on you. Your best bet - I'm assuming you're from the Phillipines - would be to become an American state. Then you can nuke the hell out of whoever you want and no one will stop you, ever. Brilliant!

never, not because they will become powerful or not but just for the reason that filipinos are people who gets along and loves other people they way you can see them all over the world getting along with other people, no matter whatever race or nationalities they are dealing with, and they way they can easily assimilate in whatever environment they are in, they are very admirable and everybody should be like them and we will be more peaceful and harmonious in this world. with only the exceptions of their politicians who i think are all self-serving and idiots.... if only there is a way of getting rid of all their politicians the best country and the most beautiful and safest place to visit will be the philippines......

The Filipino government is too corrupt.
Many people in the Philippines are poor and jobless. How can a country like that be powerful? People just sit there waiting for their balik bayan boxes to arrive. Yeah sure..powerful country? I don't think so.

No, I don't believe so. I would say that it is fareing well if it can keep the domestic unrest( gov. corruption and muslim factions) in check. Also, it needs to strengthen its defense against Chinese.
