I am not aware of a specific program offering "green points", but farming your mangos in an environmentally sound way can also save you money. Your biggest material expenses would be in fertilizing and off season irrigating. If you produce and use compost you will save in both costs. Compost the manures first, that is if you stabilize the material perhaps mixing it with waste straw and clean mulched wood. Animal manures are a far more stable source of Nitrogen than Ammonium Nitrate (safer too!). The Compost also helps to reserve moisture & keep your soils in place. After using the conpost for just a few seasons, you will find you have some of the richest soils. In some places you can charge a fee to take the manure and foul straw. You may also consider growing Kanif or other grasses under your trees to use for making ethanol to operate your machines & trucks, or to sell. This helps to bring in money between harvests. I believe your best market would be in producing organic mangos. In the United States, organic produce can sell for 30% more. I have my own tree, and my Compost bin is under it. It is only 6 years old, and last year a wind storm tore all of the first year of flowers off. I am excited for this year. Good Luck!
