She is being mean to my other dogs. She will see them go to the food, and growl at them. My other dogs are losing whight because of this.
What is the best way to deal with this without hurting her. I have tryed to feed her away from the others. It does not work because my other dogs are afraid to eat.

Thank you all!

If you have three dogs, put out 5 or 6 bowls of dogfood at different places. If you have a dozen dogs, have at least 18 or twenty bowls. Some people feed their dogs a certain amount at a certain time every day. We've always left food out all the time and we've never had a dog that over-ate or tried to claim all the food. We did have one that got very upset if a CAT tried to eat from the doggie dish, but would share with the other dogs.

get different food bowls. if you already tried that then i suggest taking each dog to a room at different times and feed them there. Just close the door while they are eating and then your mean dog won't barge in and eat the food. I feel sorry for your other dogs. Your mean dog should porbably be trained or the vet might help. The vet can ell you if this is some sort of sickness, because dogs shoiuld not be eating too much, make sure that your dogs have gotten there shots once a year and hopefully your other dogs will have a meal. You should probably train your mean dog.... I wanna wish good luck to your dogs that haven't eaten in days and hope your mean one will back off. If your neighbor knows about this that mean dog may be taken away because you should not be letting your dogs starve.

I'm not an expert but I thought I might be able to help. I feed my two dogs at the same time but in separate areas of the kitchen. They each have their own food and water bowls. One dog has white and the other dog's are blue. I believe dogs see in black and white so the color difference is seen by them. Also, I have a friend that feeds one dog outside while the other one eats inside and then removes the bowls till it's time to eat again. Hoped this helped. Good Luck.

Try pet therapy for your other dogs.

Ok all Jokes aside

I suggest maybe if your not doing this already Feeding them in seperate rooms in seperate bowls that look tottally differnt then after a while try same room and supervise them and everytime your dog tries to eat out of the others bowl simply move them away (if they will let you do this without biting you) and tell them "No"in a firm voice.

Your female dog isn't mean...
your other dogs are WHIMPS.
You have gotten some good answers here..
Feed your dogs the same food, same AMOUNT,
same TIME of day, same PLACE
in their OWN seperate bowls.
DO NOT throw a large amount of food in a bowl
and leave it out 24/7 for all of your dogs.
HOW LAZY,
It gets icky, It draws bugs and rodents,
AND it's hard to housebreak a dog that eats
more than he needs whenever he wants.

I have 3 dog bowls and 3 dogs. German Shepard , Britney , and a cockier. Each one is taught to eat out of there bowl when I set it down. If one try-es to eat out of a bowl I just set down and it is not there's I push them away. Only feed them when they are hungry and just the amount they eat. If they do not eat it all pick it up. My German Shepard I put the food down in the living room first, they are not aloud to bite each other and I can take the food away and not get bit. Next I feed the Brittney in the family room and last my Cockier goes in her Cage to eat. She does not have to but this is where she likes to eat.

Feed her in another room where they can't see her. They are being intimidated by a bully. Poor babies. Teach her not to do that. Check out the Dog Whisperer on National Geographic TV Link to his website:

Teach your dog that YOU are the alpha dog not her. When she does this grab her by the scruff of the nack, give her a little shake (not enough to hurt, just get her attention) and in your best growling voice tell her NO.

At other times put her in a submissive postion until she learns that she isn't the boss.

Feed the aggressive dog in a crate. It may take a little while for the other dogs to figure out they're safe now.

Remove her to another room or outside and then feed your other dogs, tell them its ok and stay with them until they eat.

Feed them in their own food bowls.
