That used to work, all the homeless people were doing it. I heard it doesn't work anymore.

If you get caught by the police bending the card back you will get a $60.00 fine.

The best way 2 get a free ride---buy a $10.00 metro and get a ride free.

Several banks are giving a free Metro Card if you open a bank account. I don't remember which banks offer the program.

I've seen some pretty sketchy people trying this at the turnstiles, but it is not an exact science and you will probably have to stand there bending and swiping for hours before it works.

Unless you find one of these charming characters to help you do it...but they will probably want $2 for it!!

sure, in some situations people throw away MetroCards with a small stability on them and, sure, you could collect all of them up and funds them in, yet please do no longer! Why? by way of fact the homeless people in long island city remember on little issues like that for a source of very necessary earnings, and via being a cheapskate your self, you're extremely actually robbing a homeless person of a few of their earnings, so, except you're homeless, do no longer do it, ok? In different words, do the ultimate suited element. stable success!... :-D
