When I first got my pug he had the same thing (however I didn't find out until a few weeks later). This type of mange may not be curable (not really sure on that) but I will say I have had my dog for 4 years and he has not had another break out. I did have to take him to the vet about once a week so he could get a medicated bath (dipped). He also had to have his skin scrapped every week to see if the mites were dead. This can be a bit costly. Also this type of mange can be CONTAGIOUS, not to scare you because obviously not everyone can break out. But I did have a rash pop up on my neck and the side of my face that did not clear up until I thoroughly cleaned my furniture and spent a few days away from my dog. Don't let this information scare you, nobody and nothing is perfect. This puppy will probably bring you a lot of happiness in the end...

Nearly all dogs acquire mange mites from their mothers during the first few days of life, (like worms, sorta).
It usually appears in puppies.
She most definetly can be cured. You will most likely be given an ointment. Nearly 50% of puppies will recover without treatment. The rest can be cured with intense therapy.
Some breeds are more prone to it than others. It is also common for it to pop up when a puppy is having it's immune system challenged, such as during vaccination times.
This is not a rare condition, it is completely treatable and you will need to take the dog for regular vet visits until it is all cleared up.
Mange can be cleared up as soon as 4-6 weeks, and sometimes it can take 6-7 months.
You do not have to be concerned about buying the puppy. You will however incur some costs for the treatment of the skin problem until it is gone. You need to be patient and be very good about consistent treatment.
Please do not be afraid of a pup because of this. It needs a lot of love and a good owner willing to take a little extra care of it for awhile.
Here is an exact quote from my veterinary handbook..
"When generalized demodectic mange develops in dogs under one year of age, there is a 30%-50% chance that the puppy will recover spontaneously. "
"In dogs older than one year of age, a spontaneous cure is unlikely but the outlook for improvement with medical treatment has improved dramatically over the past decade. Most dogs can be CURED with intense therapy. Most of the remaining cases can be controlled if the owner is willing to commit the necessary time and expense"
So, as you can see, it is very likely it will be cured. This is newer information. Good luck.

My friend has a Bulldog with this and this form is NOT curable, but it can be manged. It took a couple months of treatment to clear it up and then the vet said that it coud pop up again at any time and will need to go thru all the treatments again. This is a medical problem that is treatable, but doesn't ever go away entirely.

It is not curable, but is treatable. It's nothing huge to worry about, and you can always consult a vet or do research on this type of mange, if you want more information.
As others have said, do not stop considering this dog, due to that....

Check this website and it will tell you all about it. I do know that stress can trigger an outbreak and when the stress level goes back to normal, the mange will recede also. But they still need medicine.
Good luck.

From what I understand, it is not contagious, can be uncomfortable at times and is inherited. You defiantly wouldn't want to have a dog with this to have pups. I wouldn't let it keep me from adopting her if I really liked her.
