Good Question... and POINTS...
The Popes start according to the Catholic Church with Peter, the "rock". There were debates after Jesus died and Paul, who was persecuting the Jesus Movement was hunting for them after arranging the murder of "stephen" and litterally took over as he travelled around the Mediteranean on his way to Rome. Peter went to Rome and James, stayed in Jerusalem and became the leader of the Movement in Jerusalem. Many were afraid of being the next crucified so Paul had an easy take over as he was a Roman citizen and a "learned fundamentalist" jew. Most of the teaching of the Catholic Church regarding women' s role and status in the Church and "the collection plate" come from Paul.
PS..The word PONTIFF is one that was "stolen" from Roman Paganism who called their leader the PONTIFF
The women, who were the brave ones and stayed at the cross until Jesus died were "discarded" and even vilified. Mary Magdalen became a "prostitute" because she was from a port town, Magdala, and was too "influential" in the movement, being a "close" friend of Jesus. Some even say his "concubine" or even his "wife"....We don't know for sure..There are many Churches to Mary Magdalen in the south of France. Was she a Prostitute? Did the movement move to Southern France with the help of Joseph of Arimathea, a wealthy trader who gave Jesus his tomb and took care of Mary after the crucifixion. Some say he did not die but moved to Southern France...His words and the sightings after the "supposed" death would make sense in that light. The later history of Christianity would also make sense as the Cathars fleurished in the south of France until they were slaughtered by the first "Christian" crusade around the first millenia of the Christian era. It was also an "apocalyptic" time when Christians were expecting the "end of times"...
Many of the sacrements of the Church are also later additions by the Church. Money is a motivating factor. The more the adherent have to use the Church and the priests, the more the "financial" rewards for the "structure".
You are right on the "continuous" creation. The Eternity of the ONE is alluded to by many philosophers and theologians and is quickly "disregarded" by the "autocrats" as is does not allow for the "hell" and "heaven" credo that needs a "final" judgement, an end of Times and also a "Big Bang" beginning. A continuous or ETERNAL UNIVERSE would not leave anything control mechanism beside the Hindu "re-incarnation" which is no better but a little more "fair". If life is a school in which we cannot fail but eventually learn and come ONE, then what is "SIN"???
The Church structures would crumble if "sin" and "crime" became the one and the same. The biggest criminals are also the most outwardly "religious". The sins of lust and sex are played up by those who are addicted to the lust for POWER and greed, and just an outright lack of compassion, charity and love of neighbour.
The INTERNET and INFORMATION is the worse nightmare of Religions...That we can talk like this is a real threat to them and they send their "judas goats" on these sites to try and counter the "logic" and reason-ning" of the "good guys" with "myth, fantasy, and promises of rewards in a mythic "other" or "brighter" world.
I was just outside at 9:00 PM with my dog, in the mountains with bears on both side of us and a cougar in the area, and I can tell you that I am grateful for this great and amazing UNIVERSE that the ONE has created that allows me to look, question, appreciate , amaze at. and I don't need a "reward" in the other world that would allow me to destroy this amazing creation to make money, amass power, or be "put on a pedestal" as a great conqueror or warrior who lives by other people "remembering" them...
MY ONE IS GREAT and I come back to this "virtual" reality to share with others without needing too much company but the "GOD and my DOG"....(notice the Perfect MIRROR symetry)...lol

The Catholics are the biggest cult in the world. They created the Pope and added all sorts of do not's to the Bible.
You're right, neither creation or evolution can be proved; but it's a lot easier for me to believe that an awesom all powerful God created the universe, than BANG there it is.

It's about how God made a "very good" creation that was corrupted by sin bringing death and the fall of humanity from a personal relationship with their Creator. Then when God had shown people that they could not be reconciled to Him by their own efforts He sent the Lord Jesus to lay down His sinless life on a cross to make a way for sinful humanity to be reconciled to God. After the Lord went back up to Heaven He sent the Holy Spirit to earth to dwell within those who recognized their lost condition and their need for a Savior so that they could begin to be transformed on the inside and follow Jesus back to God. At the end of the Bible God creates a new Heaven and earth and all of those who have ceased their rebellion against their Creator and acknowledged Jesus as their Lord and Savior will be with God and there will be no more death or pain or sorrow as it was at the beginning.

we have a pope because catholics think that jesus appointed peter the leader of christians before he ascended to heaven (misinterpretation, man is too sinful to have as much authority as the pope does) / if the seventh day of creation is still happening than there is something seriously screwy about my calendar because i've had literally thousands of days go by / matter cannot be created or destroyed by our power, but i would imagine it came from SOMEWHERE / creation isn't so much a theory as it is the belief that was held until science came along and said everything is a theory except the most simple laws.
i'm glad i don't believe everything science tells me or else i'd feel really insecure about life.
