How do I find out the taxes a publicly traded company paid in a certain state?

Have you looked at their Annual Report? It should be available on their website and contains financial statements. I don't know that taxes are broken down by state, but its worth a try. You could also try contacting the Investor Relations department. I doubt the state would give out that information.
