Even Suicide?

Yes.

Catholics believe suicide when committed in full knowledge and deliberate consent is a complete turning away from God (a mortal sin) and will send a person to hell.

There are 3 conditions of a mortal sin: grave matter, full knowledge, and deliberate consent.

While suicide (or any kind of murder) is always a grave matter, people who commit suicide may not always have full knowledge of what they're doing. Drugs can definitely impair one's thinking, as can other things, such as diseases, intense pain, or anguish.

Therefore, suicide is not automatically treated as a mortal sin.

We are commanded by Christ not to judge others so we leave final judgment to God who alone knows each person's heart.

With love in Christ.

The Bible teaches that all sin is forgivable except blasphemy of the Holy Spirit (willful rebellion [current status]). Therefore even suicide is forgivable if one was to confess and repent of the sin (presumably before dying). But suicide is often a result of mental illness and then I don't believe its a sin.

However, there is another question, salvation is a gift that we receive by faith - the means of death is irrelevent - therefore the real question is can a person comit suicide and still have the faith necessary for salvation?

First let's clarify a fact all this about sins that comes out of the Bible was written by a group of monks in the fourth century , four hundred years after the death of Jesus , information handed down by word of mouth and and writings of questionable source . Those monks under pressure by the Pope of the time were directed to write all this rules that this society is so feverishly following , for the purpose of maintaining a semblance of morality at that time in history , the Bible should be rewritten to accommodate to days standards and morals , is about time . The word sin inflicts fear of the unknown , there is nothing to forgive , it is only your self, how do you live with it , the personal guilt and regrets , you have a short live to live a mear 85 to 90 years and 100 if you are lucky , that is a grain of sand even less an atom in universal time , can you believe that our all loving God would have the malice to penalise and castigate you? , a just a human for eternity for what ever so called sin one has committed ? and that includes suicide .... I was a devoted Catholic that almost fell prey to the ministry , I have studied its teachings and almost brain washed , and I can confidently tell you , there is nothing to forgive we are all equal and equally loved by our God . Committing suicide is just another form of death in our human life , but is shunned by our society , both religious and governmental , imagine what would happen if people would start falling like flies ? NO MONEY ... NO TAXES ??? , But one bad side yes there is , your loved ones would terribly surfer for losing you , for never being able to see you or talk or love , your body is gone for ever , dont put them through it it is to painful.

Suicide is a touchy issue as we all have friends or know of people who have taken their own lives. What can make it more difficult is well meaning but over-zealous and ill-thought through christians believe and communicate that somehow God doesn't (or can't) forgive someone of taking their own life.
(Lets not roll into the boundaries of euthenasia with this one.)
But very simply God's grace is big enough for all of man's problems.
Fundamentally and at the core of what we believe as christians is that when jesus died he conquered sin (by living a perfect life but then taking onto himself the consequences and punishment of someone who had sinned) and then conquered death by coming back to life.
Therefore now the question is not whether God will forgive someone who has taken their own life but rather did that person have a relationship with Jesus. 'Cause lets not forget that no matter the sin - Jesus death covers it all.
The word says that the forgiveness of sins and the cleansing from all the anti God stuff in our lives is a free gift to anyone who believes in their heart and confesses with their mouth that Jesus is Lord.
When we ask for the forgiveness of our sins that God's grace covers all that we've done and all that we will do - so don't stress about the timing of suicide (as someones last act).
Suicide is a horrible decision of someone who sees no other way out. Jeremiah 29.11 is a scripture that refers to God's will for our lives - to bless us a give us a future. Whilst that is what God wants for our lives (and Jeremiah 1 tells us that he has a personal plan for each of our lives) - God doesn't always get what He wants (as evidenced by the world around us.
God is a gentleman and never over-rides someones free will or personal decisions for their lives.

Bottom line - ALL SIN IS FORGIVEABLE - and thank God for that!

Once you have left this life and crossed over there is no more asking forgiveness for your sins. Of course anyone who finds him/herself standing before the very real God Himself is going to start asking forgiveness of everything. Hindsight is 20/20. At that point it's just too late. That's why God says we must have faith. Whatever we believe here will be honored there. Whatever choices we made here will be honored there. If we choose NOT to believe we will go to hell. If we choose to believe we will go to heaven. It's just that simple.

Now about suicide, that is a final selfish & sinful act of ones life that does not give him/her a chance to ask forgiveness. So no, I don't believe that sin can be forgiven. If any sin could be forgiven once he/she is standing in judgment before God do you think there would be anybody in hell?

Allah has said the sin He won't forgive is attributing partners to Him. Committing suicide is definitely a sin for Muslims and it's not like the person is going to get the chance to ask for forgiveness if they killed themselves. It's a mark on the list of bad deeds and that's not what good Muslims are all about. Once you're dead then Allah is the Best of Judges and we must have faith in what He has said.

In many cases, (this is not a generalization) suicide is a selfish act. It's saying that "I don't like where I'm at, who I am, what I'm dealing with, and I don't care how people will feel about my death" and taking your life into your own hands, instead of trusting God to get you through and surrendering to Him. As for whether or not a Christian who committed suicide would go to heaven, I don't know. However, an unsaved person who realized what was going on, and yet still committed suicide would unfortunately go to hell. It is not a good decision, regardless of where you are at. All things are possible with God, and in committing suicide you are removing your trust from God and putting it in yourself. If I did that, I would have to say that would be really stupid. REALLY stupid. I hope that this helps, God bless!

The bible says all sins are forgiveable but one.

The sin against the holy spirit.

This can happen if someone doesn't believe the bible is true...you know the type. Liberals etc. They believe that Jesus was not God in the flesh.

BELIEVING GOD EXISTS WON'T SAVE YOU....UNLESS
So for someone to say they believe in God will not save them from their sins as even satan believes there is a God.

We have to accept that Christ is lord of our life and that we are all sinners. We can't call homosexuality good and abortion good and cussing good and drug use good. We need to say what it all is. Sin.

So if someone doesn't admit they are a sinner and need Christ this is called Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit and THAT sin will not be forgiven.

Blessed are those who are not offended by me
- Jesus Christ

So in closing the answer to this question is no...all sins are not forgiveable. If someone rejects Christ that is the only sin not forgiven. Jesus in the bible says and I quote "All sins will be forgiven man except one. Blasphemy of the holy spirit."

I never understood why someone would be so dumb not to accept Him. I mean...it's like someone knocks on your door and says Hey I'm going to give you a million dollars and I slam the door in his face. That my friends...is a dumb dumb.

I guess that's why in the bible it says "A fool says within his heart.."there is no God".

Like Mr. T says... "I pity that fool"

Jesus made the truth very clear when he said that all manner of sin and blasphemy would be forgiven among men except blasphemy against the Holy Ghost. This sin cant be committed in this day and age as the circumstances under which it can be committed don't exist any more. Only the sin of unbelief will stop Jesus from saving you.
