Not for popularity or to get closer to another guy. I thinks he's doing it for the sake of having a boyfriend. I think it's peer presuure that has aused her to be this way. In our school, almost everyone is going out with someone except for me, so if you don't have a boyfriend...ooooh... That sucks. Especially for me. So this guy asked her out, and she said yes. And she is constantly talking crap about him. She say's he's ugly, he has bad ane, his eating habits are disgusting, and he acts gay sometimes. So I don't get it. I told her then why the bleep are you going out with him? And she stayed quiet. It's pissing me off that the guy actually likes her but she's just dating him just so that she can say, "Hey I have a boyfriend." She's a good friend and everything, but I don't like this about her. And when she has gone out with her former boyfriends she never had anything good to say about them and they were great guys

Its not good. Only your friend is dating because she wants to say others that she has a boy friend. If she don't like leave him is better option. She will definitely get one, one-day.

Yeah, you're right. She's dating for the wrong reasons. I remember when I was younger it SEEMED like everyone was dating someone else but it was just w/ some the ppl I knew. Nobody should do stuff just because they want to look good in front of everyone. Nobody knows if you're dating someone unless you say something or show PDA (public display of affection). For all they know, you could say you're dating someone from another school and they couldn't say you weren't! lol! (yeah, some kids said they were going out w/ someone from another school just to make it seem like they were dating.)

Last year, when I was in 12th grade, ppl would found out "John Doe" was dating "Carmen Jones" and ppl would talk about it for a little bit (like a day or less than that) and then go on to something else. At prom most ppl went WITHOUT a date and had a great time. So from my experience at my school, nobody gives a rip who's dating who. I really isn't as big of a deal as people make it out to be.

Maybe you and your friend should have a girls night out w/ a few of your other friends who aren't dating anybody. Maybe if she sees there are other ppl in the school are aren't dating and are fine with it she won't feel obligated to have a boyfriend just to have a boyfriend.

You have to be aware that nobody is perfect...you, me, or your friend. If you enjoy her friendship, and has expressed your opinion, then you have to un-involve yourself from the matter. If she forces conversations about her love life let her know, for the sake of the friendship, that you would like to stay out of it.
As for yourself...refuse to let it anger or bother you. Rise above that level for your own health and good will.

Here is a quote I would like to share with you. "Whenever things are are not going your way, use it as an opportunity to show how much class you have".

I agree with you that she is dating for the wrong reasons, but hey! You aren't and that it a terrific thing to hear. You told her what you think, let her be. She is a follower and is insecure enough to be around a guy she isn't crazy about. Sounds like punishment to me.

i would sit her down and talk to her when no one else is around. ask her why she does it, and tell her its hurting not only her, but everyone around her. because the way you made it sound, it is.
