I feel holidays are the days to indulge in the fat calorie infested foods. Its comes once a year why not splurge! but for those who are determined to keep strict to their diets. White meat is the way to go. Do you excersize and do cardio? If so why worry about calories.

If you are looking for a lean cut of meat, turkey is hard to beat. A 3-ounce serving of skinless white meat contains 25 grams of protein, barely 3 grams of fat, and less than 1 gram of saturated fat. Dark meat has more saturated fat than white meat, and eating the skin adds a hefty wallop of these bad fats. Turkey is also a good source of arginine. As with other amino acids, the body uses this one to make new protein. Arginine is also the raw material for making nitric oxide, a substance that relaxes and opens arteries. Whether foods rich in arginine help keep arteries open has prompted both research and debate.

What are the differences of white and dark turkey meat?
A 15-pound turkey generally has about 70 percent white meat and 30 percent dark meat.

The two types of meat differ nutritionally. The white meat has fewer calories and less fat than the dark meat.

The rich flavor of dark meat is especially valued in soup and stew recipes. Dark meat holds up well in rich marinades and is a perfect choice for grilling and barbecuing.

It's true that the dark meat has more fat in it but it also has more nutrients. The white meat has less fat but also less nutrients. So, if you're only interested in the fat, then go with the white meat. But if you are interested in Health, go with the dark meat.

You should try to stay away from any meat that isn't free range or organic. You would not believe the difference in the taste. Anyway, you will probably be better off eating poultry, then dark meat.

Dark meat has higher fat and more calories, but that's the least of your worries.

It's the stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, buttered corn, pies, marshmallow sweet potatoes and other goodies that will pack in the calories.
