As with all things in the kingdom there are those appointed to be leaders and those appointed to support the leaders.
Both are as noble, challenging, annointed and potentially difficult as the other.
As angels operate within the realm of the spirit and dwell in heaven (where there is no bitterness, envy or strife) - i don't think they are too concerned about rank but rather on serving the king.
A human understanding of rank is guided by merit and worth via acheivement - angels are outside of this system as they were created by God for specific tasks.
And absolutely yes - God is a monarchist - Him being the King and all beings and things in place to serve Him in different capacities via their different callings, enter the obvious and connected question of stewardship........

Jehovah is a God of order.
Angels do have ranks. The foremost angel in both power and authority is Michael, the archangel.
Next, ranking very high among the angels in privileges and honor are the seraphs. They are stationed around God's throne. These are Gods personal attendents. They are described as having 6 wings, with 2 he kept his face covered, with 2 he kept his feet covered and with 2 he would fly about. this is how the prophet Isaiah described them from his vision.
All angels are male. They are the sons of God.
Next are the cherubs. They are the messengers who serve as a means of communication between God an man. They do more than simply relay messages, they also protect and deliver God's people as well as destroy wicked. 1 angel killed 185,000 Assyrians in 1 night.
God's order has reason and thought.

If there are ranks that angels abide by it would be determined by their personal progression in righteousness while in mortality and the resultant placement by the Son of God.

It has been revealed in modern times that angels can only attain a certain level of their position and no more. They cannot be exalted to the levels of say, Adam and Eve, Abraham, Isaac, Moses, and other righteous persons once living in mortality.

Here again, I cannot determine what rank or status any angel may become; only our Savior, Jesus Christ, can make that determination.

All spirits have what you might call "ranks". You have one right now. What that rank is has been up to you. It is flexible and changes up or down. Basically it depends on how much good you do for all other people, and how much good you do for yourself. If 40% of your energy and time and effort go to doing good for others and 60% goes for yourself, then you have a grade of 40.
If you had a grade of 99% then you would only be doing 1% for yourself. Animals are not given free will and their grades, sweet as they may be, is about grade one.Human beings who brutalize others, who take their gain FROM, like stealing from others are under grade one. These spirits in a heaven could not even breathe if they were allowed in a heaven fit for for who rate lets say a 60. People cannot freely go anyplace they please regardless of how they have treated others.
You don't suddenly acquire a grade when you die. You have one NOW, because of what you have made it to date.

the same reason the christians crap upon everyone else. They think they are better than everyone else. Which is why they created the concept of Angels and Arc-Angels etc etc. To prove that 1 is better than the other.

angels have ranks because humans are primates and primates generally live in male dominated hierarchical social structures.
"God" is the ultimate Alpha male to which all must submit..

cause that is the way the story was told ( logic and religion just don't go together all that well it's best to stick to profound questions like - will bad preachers go to heaven too )
