one man beating another, almost to death, on the street in San Francisico, May 1990.
the first man was a muslim who also had an evil spirit driving him onward. I was there. I stopped Him. he was convicted and served 2 1/2 years for aggravated assault.
Jesus saved the second man's life. God is good.

The saddest thing I ever saw was a young neighbor girl that ran out of her house next door. She must have been seven years old and was in her pajamas. I was working in my garage with the big door open. She ran up the drive and and cried out, "Call the police. My daddy's beating my mommy and little brother."

Honestly; it was when I was 16 on a school exchange trip to tanzania and seeing people walking down the street begging for food, riddled with disease such as elephantitus and looking so painfully and emotionally scarred. I gave some money to the people so that at least they could get one decent mean inside their stomachs.....it is more heartwrenching out there than you can imagine, pure proverty.

This world and It's rejection of Jesus Christ. Jesus shed his blood on the cross for our sins, so that we may be redeemed of our sins, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23 Look around you all you see is a sin filled world, and few who wish to come to the Lord. That is sad!

In 1991, my family was living in a tent on the Olympic peninsula. My mother and I went to the grocery store to get the family's week's groceries with $25 (our weekly grocery budget, which wasn't so bad because we ate a lot of fish & wild fruit). We stopped to look and see if dog food was on sale for our family pet. A lady, clearly homeless, in tattered clothing, nervously sidled up to my mother and asked very quietly in a hoarse voice "which one tastes better?" My mother said "Excuse me?" and the lady repeated "Which of these brands do you think tastes better. I'm getting really tired of eating that" and she pointed to the cheapest brand of dog food. My mother's eyes widened in shock, and she said "you eat it?" and the lady said "Yes, don't you? It looks like you can't buy anything else too." My mother's eyes filled with tears and she opened her wallet and handed the lady the $20 bill and said "God bless you. Go get a decent meal."

We went home with bread and milk, and hearts full of prayer for that woman, who with one question showed us how much we had to be thankful for. When I think about desparation, and the hopelessness of human beings, I think about that woman in the grocery store in Washington, who ate dog food because she couldn't afford anything better here in America, the land of plenty.
