Some people on here are so mean. If I was in this situation, I wouldn't have even thought to go to the police. I would have contacted an attorney about it. Next, they could be using a computer from a friend's house, the library and even work..man people are so judgemental.
First, even if you owe rent...they must give you a written notice that you have to vacate the premises. If you do not do this, then an eviction notice is sent. Once there, you then go to court (so even then they can't kick you out)...and if you are paid up, then you actually get to stay.
Either contact the police and/or an attorney about your rights. I'm sure you don't have your contract on hand with you since..that is in your apartment. Also, they cannot keep your things, they must give them back.

Talk to a lawyer; I'm pretty sure that either party needs a 30 day notice to terminate a month to month agreement. If there's no written notice, she's kind of screwed. A good lawyer would help you immensely; even if you can't afford one, talk to the local housing authority/whoever enforces the rental rules in your town, and see what they say. You could also sue her in civil court to get your stuff back. Be sure to file complaint with the cops, too. I'm pretty sure what your landlord did was illegal. Even if you are behind on rent, she needs to give written notice before evicting you.
Hope this helps!

You need a written rental contract. Take it to the municipal court in the proper department, talk to police or sherrif, and show it to them.
It is against the law for landlord to lock out renter for any reason without going through the courts and proper notices.

You need to contact the California department that deals
with these kinds of things.I do not know the reasons why
the landlord did this.Seek out any friends or family that
can help you.The landlord has more to lose if you are
correct. There are lawyers who will help you with no cost
if what you are saying is true.

Your landlord is way out of line with the law. You need to contact the police to get back in to your apartment. I believe you can also take her to civil court for any damages or expenses that you incur in the process.

Somehow I think there is more to the story than you are telling because any person with half a working brain would have gone straight to the police. Good luck

My husband is a police officer...and believe me, this situation has happened in the city where we live. Call the police...they will help.
If the city police is no help, call the County Police, and if they are no help call the State Police. Someone will help you.
Treat them with much respect! Don't sound too frantic, be calm and collected...THEY WILL HELP!!!
