illegal immigration proponents is that those who enter the U.S. by breaking the law are invariably "hard-working" and "law-abiding" once they get here.
1. That argument, however, has one major flaw. According to Justice Department statistics and the analysis of immigration experts, the "law-abiding" claim often isn't true.
As Investors Business Daily reported in March 2005:
"The U.S. Justice Department estimated that 270,000 illegal immigrants served jail time nationally in 2003. Of those, 108,000 were in California. Some estimates show illegals now make up half of California's prison population, creating a massive criminal subculture that strains state budgets and creates a nightmare for local police forces."
Citing an Urban Institute study, director of research for the Center for Immigration Studies Steven Camorata noted in 2004: "Roughly 17 percent of the prison population at the federal level are illegal aliens. That's a huge number since illegal aliens only account for about 3 percent of the total population."
1. Former California Gov. Pete Wilson places the percentage of illegal aliens in U.S. prisons even higher. In 2001, he told Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly:
"We had problems related to the costs of educating children who were acknowledged to be in the country illegally, healthcare costs. One in five in our prison population were illegal immigrants who had been convicted of a felony after entering the country illegally."
The Federation for American Immigration Reform also turned to the Justice Department to get statistics on criminal aliens. They report:
"In March 2000, Congress made public Department of Justice statistics showing that, over the previous five years, the INS had released over 35,000 criminal aliens instead of deporting them. Over 11,000 of those released went on to commit serious crimes, over 1,800 of which were violent ones [including 98 homicides, 142 sexual assaults, and 44 kidnaping].
"In 2001, thanks to a decision by the Supreme Court, the INS was forced to release into our society over 3,000 criminal aliens [who collectively had been convicted of 125 homicides, 387 sex offenses, and 772 assault charges]."
1. Up to a third of the U.S. federal prison population is composed of non-citizens, according to Federal Bureau of Prisons statistics - but not all non-citizen prison inmates are illegal aliens.
As to the "hard-working" claim, CIS notes: "The proportion of immigrant-headed households using at least one major welfare program is 24.5 percent compared to 16.3 percent for native households."
Investor's Business Daily concurs: "Once [illegals] get here, they are 50 percent more likely to be on welfare than citizens."

Please read. Taxes a small part. Illegals don't know it, but the massive numbers have ruined citizens lives by raising the cost of living so high that many people cannot pay bills, cannot afford health insurance and so on, and are one pay check away from losing their home. L.A. a good example. Many through illness/injury/widowed/divorced, etc., have lost their home/apt. unable to pay high bills, and are living from their vehicles or on the streets. Families homeless have grown by 50% now. More than some have lost their lives due to not being able to afford medical insurance or drugs, etc. Those that don't work can get free care in horrendous system where they get an appointment in 3 to 6 mos. for basic care awful care which takes a whole day.
The government has watched all this happen and more for years!

We have to pay for their childrens education, we have to pay for the illegals who are in jail. We have to pay for the roads that illegals use every day, we have to pay for hospitals who have to take in patients with no health coverage. We have to pay for the ones who do get health coverage from the government.

They also keep our wages low because they don't need higher wages, since illegals work under the table and don't pay taxes.

Don't tell me illegals pay income taxes, you know they don't. They would be caught undocumented if they were even at jobs that submitted their records to the IRS. Legal immigrants pay taxes (sometimes), but illegals do not.

Poor people don't make enough money to pay enough taxes to cover the cost of education for their children much less for other services poor people use. That is why there are limits on how many poor immigrants can legally come.

Our children's education money and schools are being drained and overcrowded to teach children of illegal immigrants and our children's school programs are being cut to fund ESL programs. Their better life is at our expense and our children are paying the biggest price.

1. there are so many of them they suck the life out of all of us.
2. steal identities because it is easier.
3. don't learn English, because it is easier.
4. Cheat on tests, because it is easier.
5. get free health care, because it is easier.
Just plain make our lives miserable, and anyone who says they don't do anything, negative is fooling themselves, or very naive.
There was a group of people on TV last week, putting there own race down, saying how they couldn't stand the way these illegals are making all honest people look bad, and they were ashamed of them.
I am sure they will be called racist, and two-faced, just because they are speaking the truth.

illegal immigrants freeload.

because they're ILLEGAl, the US doesnt know about them. if we dont know anbout them, WE CANT TAX THEM.

pretty much, we pay for everything they have. i understand that most of the time there is a damn good reason why juan diaz hops the border. however, let's say he moves to florida where he gets employed as a roofer. lets say he trips, falls off the roof and is badly injured.

now he has to go to the hospital. he needs surgery, but because he's undocumented, where does the bill go?? i'll bet a million to one he doesnt even have insurance. because i live in florida, i can say firsthand that im gettin sick and tired of paying for other people's bills! do you know how much of my paycheck the US takes to pay for mr. diaz?? A WHOLE FRICKIN LOT!! i got payed $120 today, but after taxes, chik-fil-a handed me $110. i need that frickin $10! that doesnt even include social security!

all im sayin is, we need to go down to the rio grande and patch up that hole in the fence!

They help business by supplying a larger workforce and more competition for jobs this equals lower wages paid by business. They help government keep inflation down, with low wages, on the other hand they use alot of public resources they they don't pay for with taxes. They hurt working class Americans who want higher wages but have less leverage and more competition due to hardworking illegals.

You know I really don't pay too much attention to this sh*t being a mutt myself....
But I do have a grievance when it comes to people getting something for free...
I read so much about the social security, the social services, the benefits up the you know what, that these people receive....While all us legals got to pay out the behind just for a decent retirement or in some cases a decent meal...
Maybe that's the reason their here....they know our government will give them everything they need.....Who should we blame...them for taking the hand out, or the big guys for giving it away.....! !

By being illegal is a start

1) They do not pay for anything; therefore they drive up the costs to the LEGAL citizens of this country

2) They take up space that should NOT belong to them; b/c again, they pay for nothing

3) They think they are 'ENTITLED' to things without paying for them. We are all for people wanting the "American Dream"; we just shouldn't have to fund it. No one gives me money for my 'dreams'.

4) Since they receive health care for FREE, MY health care costs go up

5) MY disabled daughter loses out on some medical equipment b/c TOO MUCH of the money is HANDED over to people who don't pay into the pot like the LEGAL citizens do.

6) Our schools have to hire more teachers to educate the children of the ILLEGAL people who don't belong here; therefore driving up school taxes.

7) Our towns need to build more and bigger schools to teach children whose parents don't PAY a dime into the pot

8) Schools have to hire additional teachers to teach these children english; YET all the adults 'refuse' to learn English. That drives up our school taxes too.

9) ILLEGAL immigrants AUTOMATICALLY qualify for benefits I have to WORK for. Then after I WORK and STILL STRUGGLE to feed MY family; I have more taxes taken out of MY check to foot the bill of people who DON'T belong here.

10) Children of ILLEGAL immigrants AUTOMATICALLY qualify for FREE BREAKFAST and LUNCH at school. Again, that money comes from LEGAL citizens' pay checks. And to boot, OUR children do NOT automatically qualify for these programs b/c we make TOO MUCH money!!!

11) A lot of ILLEGAL immigrants come here and want to change OUR country. They obviously left someplace BAD to come HERE b/c it's SO GREAT; so why do we have to change it? Why do I have to 'fight' to keep MY country the way it is? I shouldn't have to DEFEND my country to people who aren't even citizens.

12) If someone who is an ILLEGAL immigrant ends up in our jails, WE have to feed them, clothe them and pay their darn cable bill and pay for the gym equipment and books and TVs they use. No one gives US free cable. Again, this drives up taxes.

13) They make us look like idiots. They all know when they come here they'll get everything for free, and we HAND IT TO THEM! And they laugh all the way to the bank while us TAXPAYING citizens are trying to come up with the money to pay our electric bills. I resent people who take advantage of me. Why shouldn't I? What country can WE go to and expect this treatment? Where on the globe can I go and get ALL of my money tax free, all of my medical benefits for free, my college education for free, cash assistance, free language classes for free and my kids' education for free? And while I'm there, I think I'll demand they all start to speak English too.

14) They take jobs away from us. And not necessarily b/c they themsevles are working the job. Fine example: My friend lives near Miami and literally could NOT find a job b/c she doesn't speak Spanish. She had to seek employment in another state! No other country on the globe caters to ILLEGAL immigrants this way. Heck, no other country on the globe caters to LEGAL immigrants like that.
