Depends. There are usually 6 players on the court.
My school team had about 12.

There are normally just a Varsity and a Jumior Varsity part for each team. There are 6 people in each. There can also be 2 or 3 substitutes for the team. If there is a tall player, that person can play only front row, and when he/she goes back to the serve position, they can switch with a certain sub that plays only the back row. The subs are only subs for certain players. Altogether, not including the 2 or 3 managers that help out the referee and the scoring, there are anywhere between the numbers of 12 and 18 people for the team.

You can have as many girls on the team as you like. The problem is that it is hard to play every girl in a game because you can only play 6 at a time. When you keep more, some players don't feel like they've played a lot. I think keeping 10-13 is good, so you can play everyone and have a sub incase someone needs out. We kept 15 players, and not many people played for that long because the coach wanted to play everybody.

There can be lots of player on the team, but only 6 player can play. The reason why team have lots of player is for backup. One year in my volleyball team 4 girls were hurt. So that's why you need lots of players.

I am pretty sure that there are 7-9 players on a volleyball team. Thats what i think but my friend said that there is 9 players so then from 7-9 players.
