I have thick red hair that is down to the middle of my back and I was wondering what I could do with it on my wedding day. My sister wants to french braid it but I don't know if thats really what I want. How are you wearing your hair?

I normally have my hair in a bun, ponytail, or just down. My sister has always french braided my hair for everything. For my prom, high school and college graduation. I just don't know if I want that again.

How about some of these pictures of wedding hairstyles? Congratulations! I hope this gives you some ideas! If you decide to have a professional attempt to execute the hairstyle you desire, make sure to make a trial hair appointment prior to the actual wedding. This will give you and the hairstylist time to experiment and make needed adjustments to your hairstyle eg. less/more curl, placement of hair accessories, higher/lower ponytail, ect. Be sure to bring your tiara or veil if you will wear one on your wedding. This will help you see the overall look before the big day.

ok-NO french braid! The only time a french braids are appropriate is when you are playing like softball or something like that. Don't let your sister talk you into it if you are not sure. I am personally wearing mine half up half down with the veil put in towards the back of my hair over the barrett and really curly. I hate my hair all the way up or else I would go for that. You may love it. I suggest goin to theknot.com or weddingchannel.com and looking at their hairstyle gallery. Also, search around for formal hairstyles you like-you can easily adapt a veil into most of um! good luck and congrats!

ughh no french braid! You will look as if you are stuck in an 80s wedding. Time for a change - you have worn the same hairstyle for all other occasions so you should change it. All the other occasions were when you were young and immature, show how much you have grown up with a classy hair do. You can have half up and half down, or completely loose with curls.

How do you normally wear your hair? While it maybe fun to try something new for your wedding day, I'd suggest going with a tried and true style. TRUST ME. You don't want the groom to think "Who in the world is that?" as you're walking down the aisle! :)
And unless you like how your sister french braids your hair, then opt for a different style that you like. Honestly, it's your day and you should wear your hair the way you want!!!

The half up half down style is always good (example below). You want something a bit more formal that what you usually wear. The half up gives your head piece an anchor, which you won't get with a french braid. All up is good too, but would be hard to do with such long hair.

I envy you your hair. My cousin has long, thick red hair like you do and it's gorgeous. She sort of had the same thing for her wedding. People wanted her to wear it up, french braid it, all kinds of things. She was used to wearing it parted down the center and straight. She ended up pulling the top and sides up on top of her head in a chignon (loose bun), and loosely curled the rest. She had flowers around the chignon that had her veil attached. It was a really nice romantic "update" to her every day look and she felt very comfortable with it. Hope that helps. Congratulations on your upcoming marriage. Best wishes.

I think if you are tired of wearing your hair like that, then you should talk with your sister. I'm sure if you explain that you appreciate her suggestion but you would like to try something different, she will understand. Perhaps the two of you can look through different magazines or websites to get ideas for how to wear your hair. I'm also looking for ideas about how to wear my hair for my wedding, and I know that it is a major part of the whole package. I think you should not just wear the style that your sister wants, but it should be something that you want and that you feel accents your dress. I hope this helps.

You could do a style that is only half up. From the sounds of it you normally have your hair completely up off your face so half up with lots of curl would be nice. Go to The Knot (http://www.theknot.com) and there is a section there with a variety of hairstyles. You may find a style you like and then you can print it out and show it to your sister or whomever is going to do your hair on the big day.

Your headpiece and the style of your dress should depict how you wear your hair. if your dress is off the should strapless, then you should go up. In general I feel a bride should have her hair up. It is beautiful. you could have a french braid going up the back of your head, then placed in a ponytail w/ the loose ends in curls or ringlets.

Go to www.weddingchannel.com and click on their beauty page...there are hundreds of pictures, from up-dos to straight hair to curly hair, and that will give you some ideas from what other people have done. You can also type in wedding hair styles in any search bar and come up with some great pictures.
