Okay, my dog (chihuahua) has been treating her toys like puppies for the past week or so, and now she is producing milk. Is this bad? Do I have to milk her?

No.. the only reason a dog will produce milk is if she is pregnant or is having a false-pregnancy.

A false pregnancy is when the dog thinks she is pregnant.. she has everything that comes with pregnancy except for the babies. Milk is one thing they produce. She will start treating her toys like her babies.

I would suggest going to your vet and asking them to give her the medicine to stop her from producing the milk.. otherwise she will keep on producing the milk for a while.

She is probably having a false pregnancy. You need to take her to the vet,and make an appointment to have her spayed as soon as the milk dries up.If she keeps having false pregnancies, she could develop pyometra,a life-threatening infection in which the uterus fills with pus and causes a systemic infection. Please have her spayed if you love her.

No, she just had a false pregnancy. She is likely to do this following every heat season until she is spayed.. it is pretty hard on her system..and she is more likely to get mammary infections , tumors or cancer.

Yes. Do you have other animals. If so, that may be why shes producing.

No.

Is she expecting at all?

My aunt's dog took care of her toys after she had a miscarriage.
