If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.

I have two compuers, one is my primary pc and the other pc I use to test software for hidden embedded trojan, spyware or malware.

While I was testing "http://www.pctools.com Spyware Doctor, the program damaged my WMP 11. An I was unable to get any sound, and it showed only the old WMP 9.

I use Windows XP Pro. When I attempted to reinstall WMP 11, Microsoft, would only allow me to roll back to former installed players. Rolled back to WMP 10, still had the same problem. Rolled back to WMP 9 and the problem went away. So I know live with WMP 9 in my backup pc.

Perhaps this will not be the case for you. Atleast with WMP 9 I was able to get back my streaming music an all other functions of the program works fine.

The only logic I get out of this is that Microsoft's WMP,11 and 10 have software problems that when an antivirus, antispyware program scans or a recovery will cause thie program to no longer work.

Plus I have ADSL.

I should mention that everytime I went to add/remove, to take out WMP 11 I was forced by Microsoft to roll back to the previous versions I had installed. As you can see from above, I had two roll backs to WMP 9 before everything including my sound came back.

Good luck to you as I don't know what else to tell you.
