This happens to me too if I eat a lot of (fresh) pineapple and particularly chew on the core.
I did some research at the time that it happened to me first and discovered that it was the acid in the pineapple that was doing it.
Not too harmful I don't think (though I wouldn't do it daily).
Everything in moderation. Numb tongue is probably a sign of overdoing it a bit.
:)

It's a mild allergic reaction to the pineapple and in most cases does not require medical treatment. It is best to avoid pineapple. Sometimes cooking will reduce the effects but if not, try using an antihistamine to relieve the symptoms.

There isn't anything wrong at all! Pineapples naturally have a lot of citric acid, and your taste buds are kind of shocked by it. It hurts because of all the acid in it. The taste of them is very strong and tends to stay for a while, which is part of why you don't taste anything for several hours.

Sounds like you may be having an allergic reaction to pineapple. My mother get's the exact same symptoms when she eats uncooked pears and apples. I'd stay away from the fruit, as there could be a chance that this continues to develop into a worse reaction, like swelling of the throat. You probably want to get this evaluated by an allergen specialist; your regular doctor can refer you to one.

pineapple and tomatoes are high in acid. I love pinapple and I get sores on my mouth from the acid. drink and rinse your mouth with water to help with that or dilute the juice.
