Let up a little and don't always correct the kid. She probably resents the fact that you think she is always in need of your brains and help. Allow her to make some mistakes and when she wants your help she can approach you if she wants.

Communitcation, do you know the reasons why she was put up for adoption ? She probably has never had someone to guide her in the right direction before therefore she is not used to being corrected. Sit down face to face with her and explain how much you love her and why you chose to have her join your family. Children no matter what age have feelings and are a lot more emotional then we as adults are. A nice heart to heart with her would help the situation a great deal. Explain to her some of the things you went through in your life that possibly led you to where you are today and make sure she knows you are only looking out for her best intrest. I hope this helps. I will pray for you and your daughter so that she may see how blessed she is to now have a loving family.

Adopted or not makes no difference
Kids get to a certain age(anything over four)
and they think they know it all
Stick to your guns and they will grow up
Their little gripes about the rules won't seem like so much
later, as long as you make them feel loved. They will be thankful as adults for what they have been taught Hug'em a lot.

adopted or not, dont be so corrective, it can make it hard to want to carry on a conversation.
