We have a Quaker Parrot, and I know you have to get them DNA sexed. But if it is a female at what age do they usually lay eggs? And do you need a nestbox in order for this to happen, or would they lay them right on the bottom of the cage? (the bottom has like a grate thing over it)

Usually a bird will start to lay eggs after 1 year of age or more . A nest box is a great idea, since she would make a nest in the wild. Nests are only used for egg laying and taking care hatchlings. After they learn to fly, the nest gets abandoned by all.
