I am the groom to be in a wedding next May. I wish that I could share with you some ideas but my fiance is one doing majority of planning and organizing. Will share with you one idea that we like (that's about the only thing I can remember at present) and it is pretty cool if you ask me. We were on line and found this ticket agent and they print tickets (like sports entertainment or concert tickets) and have your wedding info printed on it. This is, we think anyway, a great souvenir's for the guests and will be sent along with invites. Other than that I can't think of what else to share that would be beneficial. Good luck in searching out great ideas though.

I am a florist i have done lots of weddings. One of the prettiest weddings i did this year was sherbet, hot pink and black. The bride had a clutch style bouquet that was all roses, a mix of sherbet and hot pink roses no greens no fillers like baby's breath. There were seven bridesmaids and they held clutches of gerbera daisies they all were wearing black each maids clutch was a solid color either sherbet or hot pink. we had the chairs at the reception with black covers with hot pink bows wrapped on every chair. there was a lot more to it but the colors and the cake was beautiful. Sage an light pink are also really pretty together there is a new green rose that is called lemon lime it is beautiful. If you want creams the vendella rose is the prettiest and if you want all whites the akito rose is awesome it is a true white. Pick your colors, pick your dresses, get your wedding spot booked then you need to start on catering then cake then flowers don't forget your DJ. good luck

Sand ceremony rather than the traditonal "unity candle" each person pours their sand (2 different colors) into a vase symbolizing 2 different people becoming one. Very pretty, and more spiritual, in my opinion, than a candle.

Also instead of a guest book, have a picture of the couple on a table with a matte around it...and have the guests sign the matte, then after the wedding you can frame it and they've got a forever keepsake and reminder of everyone who attended. Just a few thoughts.....good luck.

My goal for my wedding last year was to be simple, elegant....and cheap! There are a couple of shortcuts you can use. David's Bridal $99 sale. With alterations, my dress was was about $200. You can also mix and match bridesmaid dresses to fit different body types. I got a bed canopy from Linens and Things (use your $5/20% off coupon in the mail) for $25. It looked awesome over our cake table. If your adventurous enough to do your flowers yourself or need to give your Grandma a "special project" :) you can order your flowers in bulk from Sam's Club. My whole family got together at my mom's the am of the wedding for breakfast and did the flowers. For our centerpieces we used a mirror tile and spray painted a terracotta pot silver (our colors were silver and red) and put 4 fake roses in it. Then on each corner of the tile I got little silver condiment cups from Walmart (4 of them for 97 cents) to put votive candles in. Our favors were candles that you can get at JoAnn Fabrics or Walmart in a pack of 12. I printed off labels that had our names and the date. I made our own invitations from a set at Target. I also found some make your own business cards at Office Depot with silver embossing on the side. I put the info for where we reserved hotel rooms so they could keep it in their wallet. And finally, even though I put directions to the reception in the invite, I also printed them on the back of our programs so nobody got lost. Well, that was a fun trip down memory lane. When you're planning your wedding just remember that the marriage is way more important and deserves way more of your attention. Don't thrown away money on things you don't need. Save it for your down payment.

Im planning my wedding too, I suggest you go to theknot.com, it is a helpful site with pictures too. I suggest you get a wedding planner to note everything down and know what you have done and need.

Make a budget and try to stick with it, couples usually go over by $2000.
Make a guest list.
Pick friends/family for bridesmaids and groomsmen.
Pick a location.

Good Luck

there is an eBook I loved called Dream Weddings On A budget (and not just because the name is the same as my blog) - the couple who wrote it planned their own wedding under $2000, and it is full of unique, affordable ideas for a amazing wedding. I just reviewed it on my blog - check it out:) Hope it helps:)
