I have someone I know who has smoked pot every day for a lot of years, I would like to convince him to quit. What are some of the things happening to his body after after all these years?

For those that smoke anything the side effects are bad teeth, short term memory problems and weak lungs. However if you convice him there are things you will notice.
At first you may notice he gets a little more agitated and if he had an anxiety problem he may need medications for those times. Stress will get to him more and he will have to learn to deal with it. If he has personality changes that last more than 2 weeks he should see a doctor. When I quit I found my short term memory improved but I became more aware of the medical problems I had and they seemed to increase. Your body goes through many changes when you stop doing something that you have done a long time.
Its hard if he has used it to cover medical problems like pain or muscle cramping. Find a doctor that can help in those areas. Be patient because like with alot of things the craving doesnt go away for a long time. Add lots of love and prayers and you'll get through it. He also needs to want to quit or it wont work.

I am 42 and have smoked since I was 13 - pretty much every day since I was 18 - apart from a bit of a bad memory (which runs in my family of non-smokers anyway) I haven't any major physical or psychological problems I could attribute to smoking Pot - why do you want to impose your will on this person - surely it is there choice to do it or not...

No, then we would have to do an anti-marijuana campaign just like we do with cigarettes. There are enough smells in the air, and enough people using cigs. and reefers for crutches. Stand up and be a man.

for this one i had to bring out my drug book!smoking marijuana causes breathing problems and affects ur brain and body, examples are, short term memory loss, loss of ability to concentrate, slows coordination and reflexes and also affects your ability ty judge distance, seep and reaction time, which are important when driving, playing sports even riding a bike.it also can be very addictive.there is alot more tar in it than in tobacco.it also increases your risk of cancer.well i would write more but i have an essay to write hope this answers your question.

His memory is probably not very good for one thing. I have seen the damage pot does to someones memory and it isn't pretty.

You'll end up being an addict with a composite number of incurable side effects. Disillusioned, frustrated and slow on the uptake.
