to give you an idea of when it will probably start to go bad. This depends on how good your fridge is. When i keep my sour creme and yoghurt on top shelf it will last a lot longer than the expiry date.. but sometimes it will freeze up there too, and sometimes it gets completely forgotten and then is no longer food but a 'science project' - the coolest one i ever saw was at my friend's house.. she pulled out what may or may not have been some sort of dairy (sour creme, cottage cheese, who knows) - wondered what was in there.. opens it - we peer inside - oooooh a lush gray carpet with tiny orange mushrooms that sprouted out of it.... oooooh! pretty but obviously expired, ha ha :)

Because sour cream is not spoiled. It is cultured in such a way that it has a sour taste.
Always believe the expiration date on dairy products. It will save you some major hurling.

Everything has to have an expiration date, especially food!
It will turn colors and be really gross if you let it go too far past the expiration date... icky!

Because it is a dairy product, and just like milk...it will expire some day.
and will get moldy, and curdled and old and STINKY and will NOT taste good!

unless you have it frozen it goes bad after the experation date and you better not be eating the stuf with a past date on it

Since it's dairy I would think it would go bad two weeks after you buy it.
