Your TAG has bonded with your aunt & his act of begging to be hand fed is just natural affectionate behavior. African grey's can be a little more attached to their caregivers than a Macaw, so maybe this is why she hasnt seen this behavior in them. If she stops hand feeding, he will quite begging after a short while. In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with coddling him a little longer. He probably feels loved & secure when she hand feeds him. I have a 9 month old sun conure whom I have weaned, & still occasionally hand feed. He just loves it!

As for the peanuts, they are high in fat, but an african grey can definately have more than one. I would just use them sparingly as a training aid or an occasional treat. Try something more natural like grapes or even a well boiled egg.

Good luck!

Still wanting to be fed is a security and comfort aspect for a young bird. This bird is 7 months old, they live human life spans so in human years hes an infant and just like human infants they have to be weened at there own pace. Greys are unlike Macaws...I raise Congos myself and had some that insisted on being fed exact baby food till they were almost a year old. Oh and the peanuts is beacause of the fat and the shells get black mold on them thats very bad for hookbills.

...Someday I'll wish upon a star And wake up where the clouds are far behind me. Where troubles melt like lemon drops, Away above the chimney tops, That's where you'll find me. Somewhere, over the rainbow, bluebirds fly. Birds fly over the rainbow, Why then -- oh, why can't I? If happy little bluebirds fly Beyond the rainbow Why, oh, why can't I?

TAG's back slide on the weaning process.....so continue handfeeding for as long as the bird wants it....

The peanut question I have no idea.....My Tag's get peanuts in their seed mix, unless I am trick training them....then they only get peanuts as rewards.

he has imprinted with humans and looks to her to be fed. it sometimes takes time to ween them. Peanuts are high in fat and need to be given sparingly
