Because women can be Neanderthal, too. For you women who think this is justified, I'd like to point out that this is no different than what went on commonly in South America and is only now being fixed. If a woman were divorced (even if it was the husband who left) and she started dating again, her ex could murder her under the pretext of honor and get off with an incredibly light sentence.

My guess is that it's a power thing. The woman is no longer calling the shots and all she can do is screw up his dating life. And if she's ashamed of her behavior in the relationship, this allows her to sweep it under the carpet.

That's a complex question, because it revolves around many possible scenarios. If a girl's ex begins to date her friend(s), then her liberally-communicated thoughts [and secrets] are the ex's "property" (according to the male ego), and the girl can possibly be vulnerable again, to her own ex's exploits (or psychological games). Being the testosterone engine that a male is, I don't see why he would not fantasize having both of you, and thereby feeding his ego of being the "king of the hill." At the same time, the girl is probably insecure to begin with, if she feels her feelings for her ex are not resolved enough to move on, no matter what the relationship he enters. Then, again, everybody has an area of private knowledge about his or herself and an area of publicly shared information, just like personal space and freely shared space. How could that private knowledge be violated? It simply isn't right.

Because it's weird! It brings up all kinds of craziness - did they like each other during the other relationship? Will they talk about the ex-girlfriend? Will it make the friendship between the two girls be under pressure? It's an unwritten law that your girls are first and foremost before boys...

A girl doesn't date her friend's ex out of respect for the friendship.

Girls don't like it because the first girl knows how much of a jerk the guy is or the girl still has feelings for the guy and it just make everything uncomfortable when you hang out or around eachother.

you hang out with you friend right? well if your friends dates your ex that means you'll have to see your ex again and again. it's basically betrayal. your friend is the one who supported you in your time of need and told you that you were right to leave him when yall broke up. and if she then goes and dates him it's like all that she said was a lie. friends don't sandbag friends.

First of all i would never do that! Im sure you were probably friends with the gurl first before her boyfriend. Just because she takes off her shoes dosen't mean you have to put them on. lol... Just because they are not together anymore dosen't mean she dosen't still have feelings for him. It could also ruin your friendship with that gurl. You are basically telling your friend when they were together you had your eye on him the whole time. And that's not kool!

well, if it's an ex that you have a lot of history with...then just because it didn't work out doesn't mean that you lost all feeling completely for that person. It would hurt to see one of your friends with an ex.

It should be a rule. There's so many memories and feelings between the two of you, and you wouldn't want your friend sharing that or having the same with him. There are so many other guys out there, why do they have to go after your leftovers?
