It all depends on if you're a Christian or an atheist.

If you're a Christian:
Heaven for a Christian is a place with no pain to live with the Lord your God for eternity. There is no such thing as "Heaven for an atheist" that place is called Hell. Those who do not believe in God and confess will go to Hell.

If you're an atheist:
We're going to be stuck in a pine box six feet under regardless of any religious beliefs.

p.s. I can't wait to see what Heaven is like.

This is heaven for an atheist. There's nothing else beyond this, and quite frankly, it's absolutely amazing.

As for Christians, I've heard many things.

Some think that their personality will extend beyond death via the survival of the soul. This presents problems, however, because inevitably, unless one is a universalist, then there is an assumption that some people known and loved by the Christian will be left behind, and this would involve grief, which would seem to run counter to the normal depictions of paradise.

To circumvent this problem, some have asserted that God will wipe out all memories in the hereafter. This presents an equal problem, because assuming that you expect to see those who have departed before you, if your memories are gone, then you won't even have an inkling who anyone is once you enter paradise. You wouldn't even recognize your own mother.

Also, without memories, how could you be said to be yourself. Assumedly eternal life means life that is extended as your own self. If you have no memories, i.e., lost all connections to your earthly existence, could you be said to truly be yourself? It seems that life without memories is something entirely different.

There is also the obvious problem of the loss of biological function that carries all sensory collection and cognition. Without a biological brain, what exactly is the mechanism that allows thought? The loss of brain functioning due to illness or accident demonstrates how much we depend on our brains to "be" ourselves. How could the soul carry such complexity when, even in an intact body, if the brain malfunctions, the personality changes entirely.

The Christian depiction of life after death is too problematic to be believed.

Why would an atheist have a heaven? Heaven for an atheist would be blessed oblivion I suppose.

Atheist...I experienced heaven tonight, talking with the man I love, wearing his rings on my fingers, listening to his favorite songs, looking at his handsome face...that was heaven to me.

There is no Heaven for an atheist, only hell where your body and soul burn forever with an unquenchable fire and your flesh is eaten by worms that never die.
