Crate training will help, as will confining it to a smaller space. Dogs dislike sleeping & eating close to there feces, so they learn to control it a little better. That being said, please try to remember that a puppy that age is like a baby in bladder/bowel control and understanding, so patience palys a HUGE role.

8 weeks is WAY TOO YOUNG to be shoving their noses in it, you will make it more difficult because they won't understand that you want them to do it in a different palce, they will think they get in trouble ANYTIME they go!

Do a search on house training or breaking and you will see MANY theories and suggestions.

Good luck!

Stop....you have an 8 week old baby and you never took the time to train the puppy.

1. Get a crate called a house.
2. Put the dog in the house at night.
3. The dog will be happy to see you in the morning and be happy to go outside.
4. Never let the 8 weeks to 1 year old puppy have the run of the house.
5. Only have the dog with you in 1 room at a time.
6. If you get tired of having the dog with you, then put the dog in the house.
7. The dog is much too young to be allowed to be outside by himself as he can eat many things that can kill him. You will regret it if the puppy gets into trouble and it costs hundreds of dollars in vet bills to removed unwanted things from his stomach.
8. Your dog could also be infected by fleas and ticks by being outside all day...and way too young to use a doggy door.

Really, what are you thinking....this is a baby puppy not an adult dog....This puppy really needs your help.
9. Petco and Petsmart can give you lots of advice and help, and they have obedience school that trains the dog owner, and the puppy....both need to work together to learn commands and how to have acceptable behavior.

This can be compared to having an 8 week old baby without a diaper and letting the baby crawl through your house...and then you write to make the baby stop......got it
You need to do the training.

The discipline is only one room is allowed at a time, and only if you are with the dog. They can eat many items that can kill them and they have no idea what is good or bad, it all looks inviting to them, and you're not teaching the puppy.

Use a good enzymatic cleaner like Nature's Miracle. Keep the puppy from the spot for at least two weeks. Keep him in the same room that you are in when he's in the house. You may have to tie him to your waist to get him out of the habit of going under the table.

This is only at night? Thats because you puppy has a very weak bladder/bowel system either get them a crate or wake up every two-three hours at night. If you crate them expect whining. PUPPIES ARE LIKE CHILDREN you have to change their diapers, you have to take them out. Common Sense. He's going to do anywhere until he learns to hold his bladder.

what we have done with our dogs in the past was to 1 put their nose by it so they know what you are talking about and tell them no and put them out side so they learn that potty goes out side, 2 we have boughten peper spray at the pet store and sprayed the areas they went the most often and when they sniff around for a spot they start sneezing insted and will want to go out side
