i walked past and smiled at a new co-worker today. then he went up to our female co-worker and asked her "where are the girls at?" (we work outdoors so we see people walking by) my coworker said "there's a girl right here" referring to me but he said ".. girls who i don't work with." it made me wonder if he at least thought i was somewhat attractive but realize he didnt want to get with a co-worker.

Sometimes work and relationships don't mix. He might not have known you were single would be my guess...

Maybe he's been in a relationship with a co-worker before, and it didn't work out. Dating co-workers usually NEVER works out. Maybe invite him and others to go out for a drink or bite to eat, after work one day. Show him he can trust you, then maybe he'll let you know why he thinks that way.
But I wouldn't advise you to date co-workers. Been there. Done that.

The golden rule, DONT SH1T the position YOU eat. That being reported Ive shat in each and every single position. the authentic difficulty the following is that he had or has a lady friend. do you want to this point a guy that you recognize has cheated contained in the previous, and as instantly as having some beverages with a lady? purely placed heritage repeats itself, and certain sometime chemsitry is solid sufficient to make people do what they don't many times. sure there is outdoors factors that make it more convenient. yet odds are those similar issues will take position once you're with him. i might want to assert go away nicely sufficient on my own. stay friends, do not placed your self in circumstances that would want to effect in this again. If he does go away his female perhaps pursue it holding in recommendations you may want to nicely be a rebound. placed all of it in attitude, many times the failings we favor maximum are the failings we cant have.

Not all guys are afraid to date their co-workers. Many are just afraid of getting sued for sexual harrassment. Others don't want a relationship to be strained at the workplace.

I had a co-worker I liked for a long time, but I never went out with her.

I think many sexual harassment laws(as well-meaning as they are) have made some guys more hesitant of trying to date co-workers.

Yes. Human Resources has made it easy, almost encouraging women to abuse the rules concerning a hostile workplace. We are allowed to ask you out, but if for any, I repeat any reason you decide to file a complaint, we have to deal with the accusations and have some really uncomfortable conversations.

I would try not to do it, it might affect your performance at work.
If you see another co-worker looking at her funny you will get mad and problems will start.
People might want to screw things up and talking crap behind both of you.
