I work in the private sector and find my work so mundaine and really boring. I have challenging projects, but they are not personally fulfilling. I am not interested in going back to school at this time. I am an entreprenuer at heart, and live in a medium size town. Please help with ideas.

What you might want to do is look into becoming a consultant. That way you could apply your expertise to interesting (and, probably more importantly for you, it seems) ever changing projects as a way of keeping things fresh. Also, it may quench your entrepreneurial thirst since, although it's not running your own business per se, it's something that has the potential to call on similar thought processes.

Or, you could perhaps keep things the same with work, and tweak things in your outside life so that maybe you could feel more fulfilled that way. I say that because your work IS stable and challenging in it's own right, so it may be worth holding on to. The outside thing might be looking for a way to help out - like Habitat for Humanity on weekends, or serving as a mentor to a nearby female engineering student. Or even teaching part time. One of my professors works for Boeing by day and lectures on composites two nights a week. We like that he has real-world stories to share about things he's just run into at work, etc. etc.

At the end of the day, you're going to have to make your own decision, of course, but I know that sometimes the hardest part of making a decision can be finding thought paths that you'd not normal wander down on your own. Similar thoughts lead to similar conclusions so it's good that you came here to try and find something different. Also though, you might want to think about what you enjoy doing outside of work (hobbies) and talk to people who do that professionally then think of ways to incorporate your skill set and your interest in this, that, or the other to produce something that you could start a business in. That's me directly addressing the entrepreneurial thing :o). Or, said simply... Ben and Jerry have a business because they like ice cream. Though I can't say for sure, I'm almost certain things didn't happen like this:

Ben to Jerry - "I'd like to start a business, what should I do?"
"I don't know Ben.... how about selling tires?"
"I don't know Jerry, that doesn't seem terribly interesting."

*giggle*

Anyway, I hope you find your way - one engineering female to another.

Hi

Others ideas are not workable for any personal, That must be thier own ideas....you mentioned that your civil engineering graduate...but you are bored with your job.

Truth is everyone happy when they reach the designation as they wish, may be your internal mind set was be entreprenuer...that is your big problem. So try to work with the situation....If your single, if your risk taking person and believe yourself, then enter into entreprenuer....if not follow what your doing.

In this planet, personal fullfillment was and is limited since adam and eve....so you belongs to this planet earth and your consider to be unfullfillment personal...not only you. it was and is applicable to everyone OK..including myself.

From your experience, you may able to draw a good idea and step for move forward...that is my idea for you questoin. Anyone able to advice you, give idea and etc....finally your the one have to decided wheather you want follow

my conclusion is that...you have to create you own idea...that helps you lot... take care
