Means you were pre-approved for qualification. Once the company checks your credit report with your information (you complete the form and turn it back in), the company will determine your interest rate and credit limit.

pre approved is a marketing scheme it does not mean you are getting a CC. All it means is you met the criteria of the lender for the mailing. I ask transunion for every between 30-40 who has a credit score from 650-750 and who has 1 child. They compile a list for me and I mail you the "offer" However when you apply I will do a hard credit pull and actually decide yes or no to credit. You will never get a card unless credit worthy. Best cheapest way to establish credit is a secured bank loan pay off over 7 months and repeat. Getting a CC to start your file is stupid

Pre approval is the creditor just pulled some general info from the credit bureau where they get lot and lot of names for just targeted people who may qualify for a credit card/loan. When they sent this to consumers then the actual process starts they run your credit after they process the application then they approve you. hope this helps!

I like the "that they have your address" answer. My dog got a pre-approved credit card offer once, if that answers your question.

It can mean something or it can mean nothing. Depends on the wording. For example I saw one piece of junk mail come thru that said I was pre-approved to APPLY.

Wow! Lucky me!

Others state that you are pre-approved as long as your credit situation hasn't changed.

Read the wording and it should be self-explanatory.

it means you are on their mailing list...

I received several of these pre approval credit card letters almost everyweek....so the best way to do is just ignore them. I think it is much better to shop for my own credit card then to get whatever they offer me.

It means you are already approved for a credit card. If you give them your info, they will determine your credit limit.

Be Careful as this means you are pre-approved
only if you qualify, the majority pre-approved
are just a title to get people to apply.

It means nothing.
Just a way for them to get you interested in signing up.
If you have bad credit history then you won't get the card.
