Divorce doesn't ruin credit. Take some responsibility. Your credit is ruined by not making your payments on time or taking on too much debt.

Now you are looking for even more debt.

Not a good sign. Get a second job and cut your expenses. Use the extra money to SAVE $5000 (wow, what a concept, actually SAVING money for something).

Or start selling stuff. Start with your computer, your furniture and your cell phone. Nothing wrong with a mattress on the floor when you are broke and desperate.

Life is rough when you are broke.

If your credit is damaged at the moment but you have a stable employment with good income, you can try a secured credit card which is certaily instant approval for you. But the credit limit may be not so high as you expect. Use this credit card wisely, duly paying and never exceeding the limit and it will be upgraded to a regular card. See terms&conditions of secured credit cards at http://www.credit-card-authority.com/Secured-Credit-Cards-814058-page.php

You can check with your bank or with your company if you have invested 401(k). I don't recommend the second choice.
