Satan isn't really either. Remember, Satan was the angel Lucifer before he became Satan. There's nothing in the Bible that says angels have genders, other than their names, which doesn't make them male or female. After all, we call boats and nations by "she". I would say that angels are gender-neutral, so Satan is gender-neutral.

Satan is a Jinn that was kicked out of Paradise for diobeying God when he was told to respect, honour and bow to Adam. He said no I am better then him I was made from fire he from clay. Then he, satan, told God I will lead as many of mankind astray as I can. Looks like he's doing a swell job at that huh???? So no he wasnt an angel. He was a Jinn, and is reffered to as a he.

In the English translation of the bible, he is referred to by the masculine pronoun. I don't know anything about the Hebrew or Greek, but I have no reason to believe that it's different there.
I don't know if there is an official dogmatic stance within any denominations, but many consider angels and other spiritual entities to be neuter, since they are not physical (thus, not sexual). In such a view, the masculine pronoun would be used for simplicity.

Satan is a male and will live through the eternities without a resurrected body of flesh and bone. So will that one-third of heaven that followed him in his rebellion.
It is my strong belief that we will carry with us the same attributes that we have on earth--male and female distinguishable parts.

He's generally considered male, but there've been some movies and stuff where Satan was depicted as female.

ancient hebrew culture was very sexist and they tended to be precise about these things. the main reason they and the catholic church don't teach about asharah is they didn't want women sharing in the church power and wealth. look at how satan is decribed: father of lies, the devil and his angels, prince of darkness, etc. even though any guy whos been through a divorce or screwed over by a woman will tell you other wise unfortunately the evil one is a dude. let's hope in hell he keeps his pimp hand up!!-:) peace!
