Better than sitting at a computer bitching about Bush all day. You have a problem with the men and women who serve, now is your chance to voice that problem with one of them.

I'm trying to figure out exactly what you are asking here. Are you asking why our volunteer army is overseas in a country hostile to our occupance? Ar eyou asking what motivates a man or woman to join the Armed Forces? I'm trying to find a question here. What most people forget is that when a man or woman enlists in the Army (or Marine or Navy or AIr Force...) that they swear to obey and be loyal to the Commander in Chief. That means our president. Whether or not they agree with the reasons for deployment doesn't matter.

Son, you seemed confused. And your probably young and you've got reason to be. Im also young(21). And the truth is that the men and women over in Iraq are not defending America, they are expressing uncertainty and insecurity. Obviously these young soldiers over there dont enjoy being told that their attempt has been futile(sortof like how Korean President doesnt appreciate having his countrymen being called "evil"), so I recommend that we continue to support our troops in any way that we can, regardless of what is going on politically.
A soldier is a political tool and they are only putting into effect, the wish's of the rich politicians in Washington.
Unfortunetly soldiers arent defending the US over in Iraq, they are only expressing political uncertainty. And we may never completely accomplish the given "mission" over there, which is to train the police and military, install a new government, and have these new forces protect the land and the new government. There are Saddam Hussein backed offcials begging to take back political positions in Iraq from what I understand. It seems like the whole operation has gone no where...

Patriotism means you are willing to fight for what your country believes in. To want to kill is wrong, but it may become necessary in order to complete your mission. Sounds like your up for the challenge of defending America. I applaud you. Hope you get to see the world and eventually get into a position to do something great for your country without lives being lost. Good luck. lol.

Patriotism is following orders while in the service. Duty. What the leaders order is a separate thing.
