I am the manager of a beauty supply, we carry a special line of color for dark hair, it has the extra lifting power you need to lighten up extra dark hair!
look for L'oreal Hi-Light for dark hair, or L'oreal Feria for brown hair.....
now I know you can get a version of these at wal-mart..... but like I said, we carry them in our beauty supply, and its different than the drugstore color..... I have heard very good things about it!

actually it can be done you just have to start gradual, if you do a search on the net it tells you to buy a real light blonde dye. this will turn your hair orange, then buy the "real" color to put on top, so for example a light brown so to say. but be careful, it's super tricky. if i were you i'd buy a light blond hair dye, a light brown dye and a "just in case" bottle of dark brown or black to fix any wack occurences..good luck =)

go to a salon and ask. because people say to bleach yet thats bad for the hair.
i dyed my sunkissed brown and its visible but not as light as i wanted.. ugh makes me mad.

try getting blond hair die from the drug store and it will lighten you hair. if you bleach then your hair will go bright blond. try a light blond or a mediem blond with out bleach. good luck.
