My husbands in the nursing program and is failing. All of his tests are critical thinking questions....?
Is there a book that you used to help you get used to/pass the tests. he studies his notes and records and relistens to lecture and reads his text. But the questions have answers that are all right and he has to choose the best one. We are expecting a baby and he really wants to be a nurse but is getting frustrated. Is there a book I can buy him to help him?

I am an RN and I also am a nursing instructor. I have found in nursing school they are focusing a lot on critical thinking skills. The reason for this is in real life nursing you use critical thinking skills daily. The nursing board questions are full of critical thinking questions. There may be books out there, but one that helped me was the NCLEX books that prepare you for taking the nursing boards. These book are full of critical thinking questions and answers in all areas of nursing. A lot of instructors use these questions on their tests as well. Try it out, you can go to Barnes & Noble for a wide variety. He can go through them and decide which one works best for him.

i just graduated last year from nursing school. like your husband, i found the tests to be very difficult because the exams didnt test your knowledge of the material, they tested your critical thinking skills. what i did was i went out and bought a few NCLEX books and just kept doing questions each day. Nursing school teaches you how to pass the state boards, not be a good nurse. It wasn't until after i started my orientation that i learned anything. Tell your husband not to get discouraged. I had many friends who failed for this reason and just went back the following year and did much better.
But seriously those NCLEX books will help him. And alot of schools use those them and take questions from them.
