Soft packs are bought by cowboys and old men. Because they carry their cigs in their shirt pocket. Women and all other men buy the hard packs so the smokes will not get bent during storage.

Before I quit I always smoked the hard pack because they don't get smashed and broken as easy as a soft pack being as a soft pack isn't actually a box it is just paper and the hard pack is like a thin cardboard box.

some have their own fancy cigarette case, decorated some how. Soft packs fit better in the cases. And sometimes the soft pack can be a few cents cheaper, that could be a reason too.

i am not sure what this has to do with food and drinks but i know that people buy soft packs when they are going to put them into a case i guess the box will not fit right...other then that i have no idea....i just opt not to buy them at all...smoking is a nasty stinky habit!

hard pack is if you like to "pack" the tobacco into the cigarettes before you open the pack. soft you either are putting them into a cigarette case or you tap each individually on a hard surface to pack the tobacco into the cigarette.

I used to prefer it when I was a teenager becasue the box stuck out in my pocket & my parents could see it and I'd get busted. Now I buy box so they don't get smooshed.

i think that it is all for resale purposes. a way to make the same product, but for the consumer to have a choice on what packaging to choose. same product inside, just different packaging.
